All Genshin Impact Pneuma Characters: Fontaine Arkhe Roster

October 26, 2026 9 min read

The source-supported Pneuma roster includes Lyney, Freminet, Neuvillette, Charlotte, and Emilie. Furina is the important exception: she can switch between Pneuma and Ousia with a Charged Attack, so she is not locked to one alignment. Hydro Traveler is another documented way to produce Pneuma-aligned damage, but is best treated as a separate access path rather than part of the Fontaine-character roster.

This distinction matters because Pneuma is an Arkhe alignment, not an element. A character can be Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, or another element while a particular talent or attack produces an aligned hit. The list below reflects the explicit roster evidence available from HoYoDex, official HoYoverse documentation, and a Version 4.0 mechanics overview; it should not be read as a permanently exhaustive list for every future patch.

What does Pneuma mean in Genshin Impact?

Pneuma is one half of Fontaine’s Arkhe system. The other half is Ousia. Arkhe describes a special alignment attached to certain attacks, while a Vision element describes the elemental damage type. They answer different questions: Neuvillette remains Hydro even when a talent produces a Pneuma-aligned effect, and Lyney remains Pyro rather than becoming a new “Pneuma element.”

Arkhe interactions are most visible in Fontaine exploration and combat. When an aligned hit meets an opponent or object that responds to Arkhe, the alignment can trigger a special interaction. The exact talent, timing, cooldown, and effect depend on the character, so “Pneuma character” does not mean that every normal attack or every instance of damage carries Pneuma.

HoYoWiki maintains an official character-archive reference for the Vision system, but its indexed page does not expose a complete textual alignment roster. HoYoDex’s Arkhe reference, updated March 26, 2026, provides the clearest explicit list used here: its Arkhe index. For a current in-game decision, open each character’s talent descriptions and verify which attack creates the aligned hit.

Which Genshin Impact characters have Pneuma?

The following five Fontaine characters are identified as Pneuma-associated in the roster evidence. The element column shows their normal elemental identity; it does not replace or define their Arkhe alignment.

Character Vision element Arkhe status How to use the information
Lyney Pyro Pneuma-associated Use the talent or attack whose current description specifies the Pneuma-aligned hit; do not assume every Pyro attack has it.
Freminet Cryo Pneuma-associated Check his current talent text for the Arkhe trigger and its timing before planning an Arkhe rotation.
Neuvillette Hydro Pneuma-associated His Hydro identity and Pneuma interaction coexist; only the documented talent trigger should be counted as Pneuma.
Charlotte Cryo Pneuma-associated Confirm the relevant skill’s aligned hit and any cooldown in the live talent description.
Emilie Dendro Pneuma-associated Treat the alignment as an additional mechanic attached to the supported talent, not as a change to Dendro damage.

“Pneuma-associated” is deliberately more precise than saying that the whole kit is Pneuma. Talent wording, constellations, and later balance changes can alter how often an aligned hit appears. If an Abyss chamber or puzzle requires a particular alignment, identify the exact trigger in the character’s current in-game profile rather than relying on a broad roster label.

What is Furina’s Pneuma mechanic?

Furina can change her Arkhe alignment through Charged Attacks. HoYoverse states this directly in the Version 4.2 “Masquerade of the Guilty” update details. She is therefore switchable, unlike a character listed with one corresponding alignment.

Furina in Pneuma mode

Under Pneuma, Furina summons the Singer of Many Waters. The official update notes describe this summon as periodically healing nearby active characters. This is a support-oriented use of her alternate alignment and is separate from the elemental type of her attacks.

Furina in Ousia mode

Under Ousia, Furina summons three Salon Members. They attack nearby opponents and consume nearby party members’ HP to increase their attacks. The two modes therefore change both the summon and its battlefield role, not merely a label in the character menu.

How to switch reliably

  1. Put Furina on the field and use a Charged Attack.
  2. Watch for the change in her summon and confirm that the desired mode is active before beginning the rotation.
  3. Use Pneuma when the healing Singer is useful or when an encounter calls for that alignment; use Ousia when the attacking Salon Members and their HP-cost mechanic are preferable.
  4. If a guide or puzzle instruction conflicts with what you see, read the current talent description in-game. The update notes document the launch-era mechanic, while later patches can change implementation details.

Is Hydro Traveler a Pneuma character?

Hydro Traveler is a separate documented route to Pneuma-aligned damage. KeqingMains’ Version 4.0 overview describes Hydro Traveler as able to produce Pneuma-aligned damage.

That does not necessarily make Hydro Traveler part of a “playable Fontaine characters” roster. The character is the Traveler using a Hydro alignment, while the five-name list above is the source-supported Fontaine character grouping. Include Hydro Traveler when your question is “who can access Pneuma?”; exclude the character when you are counting Fontaine natives or Fontaine’s named roster.

As with the other entries, “can produce” does not mean all Hydro Traveler attacks are Pneuma. Consult the live skill descriptions to find the applicable trigger and plan its timing around the enemy or environmental object that needs Arkhe interaction.

What is the difference between Pneuma and Ousia?

Pneuma and Ousia are opposing Arkhe alignments, not competing elemental damage types. A Pneuma hit and an Ousia hit can come from characters with the same Vision element, and a character’s elemental reactions continue to follow the normal Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, Electro, Anemo, Geo, or Dendro rules.

Question Pneuma Ousia
What is it? An Arkhe alignment attached to a supported attack or talent. The opposing Arkhe alignment attached to a supported attack or talent.
Does it change the Vision element? No. A Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or other elemental identity remains unchanged. No. Ousia also operates independently of the Vision element.
Is it always active? Usually only the documented attack produces the aligned hit; verify the talent text. The same limitation applies unless a character’s description says otherwise.
Can a character switch? Furina can switch into it with a Charged Attack. Furina can switch into it with a Charged Attack.

Because the alignment is attack-specific, a team does not gain a universal “Pneuma buff” simply by adding one listed character. Build the rotation around the supported hit, its interval, and the encounter’s requirement.

How should you use Pneuma characters in combat and exploration?

For Fontaine puzzles and devices

First identify whether the object asks for Pneuma or Ousia. Bring a character whose relevant talent can produce that alignment, then trigger the attack while standing within the object’s interaction range. If nothing happens, the most common cause is using an ordinary attack rather than the talent that carries Arkhe, or mistiming a skill with a cooldown.

For enemies with Arkhe interactions

Read the encounter’s visual cue and test the supported aligned hit once. Record whether the reaction consumes a charge, follows a cooldown, or requires a specific target. The roster label alone cannot tell you the frequency: that information belongs to the current talent description and enemy behavior.

For team rotations

Choose a character for the elemental role you need first, then treat Arkhe as an additional utility layer. For example, a Hydro character may be selected for Hydro application and only secondarily for a Pneuma interaction. Furina requires a further decision because her Charged Attack changes the summon mode; switching at the wrong point can replace the healing effect with the attacking summons, or vice versa.

  • Check the character’s profile after a patch or talent change.
  • Distinguish the attack that creates the aligned hit from follow-up damage.
  • Track any interval before attempting the same interaction again.
  • Do not assume that a character’s element, weapon, or normal attack reveals the Arkhe alignment.

Is this a complete, patch-current list?

It is a source-supported list, not a promise that no later character or alternate form can be added. The official Fontaine character page is useful for identifying the regional cast, but it does not label each character’s Arkhe alignment: see the Fontaine character archive. HoYoWiki also provides an official archive reference at Vision — Genshin Impact HoYoWiki, but the indexed view does not provide a complete textual roster.

For that reason, the five names should be presented as the explicit roster currently supported by the cited alignment index. Before publishing a guide that claims to cover every character in a future version, cross-check the live database and each in-game talent description. A new Fontaine release, a Traveler form, or a mechanics revision could change the answer without changing the definition of Pneuma.

What should you check when a Pneuma interaction fails?

  1. Confirm the character and form. Furina’s current mode matters, and Hydro Traveler must be using the Hydro form described by the relevant skill.
  2. Use the correct trigger. A normal attack, elemental burst, or follow-up hit may not be the Arkhe-bearing action. Read the talent’s full description.
  3. Check the target. Some interactions are limited to Fontaine devices or enemies that respond to Arkhe; ordinary opponents may show no special reaction.
  4. Wait for the interval. If the talent or object has a cooldown, repeating the animation immediately will not create another aligned effect.
  5. Verify the patch. Compare the current in-game text with older guides, especially if a guide predates Furina’s Version 4.2 documentation or a later balance update.

These checks separate an alignment problem from an elemental-damage problem. A Hydro, Cryo, Pyro, or Dendro attack can still be working normally even when the expected Arkhe reaction does not appear.

Where did the Pneuma roster information come from?

HoYoverse’s Version 4.2 update notes establish Furina’s Charged Attack toggle and describe her Pneuma Singer and Ousia Salon Member summons. HoYoDex’s Arkhe page supplies the explicit character grouping used for Lyney, Freminet, Neuvillette, Charlotte, and Emilie, with the page marked updated March 26, 2026. KeqingMains’ Version 4.0 overview supplies the separate Hydro Traveler reference.

These sources have different jobs. Official notes are strongest for Furina’s documented mechanic; a maintained database is useful for a readable roster; and an overview can identify a Traveler access path. None of them supports an invented statistic about how many characters are Pneuma or what percentage of the cast they represent, so no such total is given here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Pneuma trigger elemental reactions in Genshin Impact?

Yes. Pneuma does not replace an elemental type, so the character’s normal elemental application and reactions still follow the game’s elemental rules. The Arkhe effect is an additional interaction tied to the specific attack that carries it.

Does Furina start in Pneuma or Ousia mode?

Her active mode is determined by her current Arkhe state, and a Charged Attack changes it. Check the summon on the field rather than relying on an old rotation, because the Singer and Salon Members provide different effects.

How can I identify an Arkhe-aligned attack in-game?

Open the character’s talent details and look for the Arkhe wording attached to a particular skill, charged attack, or related effect. The character’s element and a generic damage number are not enough to identify the aligned hit.

Do Pneuma characters work outside Fontaine?

Their elemental kits work normally throughout Teyvat. Arkhe-specific reactions are most relevant where an enemy, puzzle, or device is designed to respond to Pneuma or Ousia, so the alignment may have little visible impact elsewhere.
