All Valheim 1.0 Achievements and How to Get Them

October 26, 2026 13 min read

Valheim 1.0 has 55 achievements in five groups: 8 Bosses, 5 Exploration, 2 Combat, 9 Building and crafting, and 31 General. The final achievement, The Most Worthy, requires every other achievement, so a 100% run combines boss progression, exploration, high-difficulty kills, multiplayer conditions, collection checklists, and several long grinds.

Achievement tracking starts when the 1.0 version is downloaded. Earlier statistics are not automatically enough: Iron Gate specifically says an Eikthyr kill made before 1.0 must be repeated. For the least ambiguous run, use a clean post-1.0 character and world, avoid devcommands and spawned items, and keep a separate plan for Normal, Hard, solo, and cooperative requirements.

What are all 55 Valheim 1.0 achievements?

The current Valheim.tools database groups the complete list into five categories. The arithmetic is 8 Bosses + 5 Exploration + 2 Combat + 9 Building and crafting + 31 General = 55 achievements. Use the tables as a checklist; the wording in the requirement column describes the tracked condition rather than a suggested shortcut.

The categories also show where the work is concentrated. Boss achievements follow the eight-boss progression, Exploration combines edge-of-world navigation with long sailing counters, and Combat is a 105-creature checklist that must be repeated on Hard for the advanced version. Building and crafting has the largest item counts, while General contains the repeatable resource work, special deaths, survival conditions, food and fish collections, and multiplayer tests.

Boss achievements (8)

Achievement Requirement
Eikthyr Kill Eikthyr.
The Elder Kill The Elder.
Bonemass Kill Bonemass.
Moder Kill Moder.
Yagluth Kill Yagluth.
The Seeker Queen Kill The Queen.
Fader Kill Fader.
Kall Fimbulbringer Kill Kall Fimbulbringer.

These eight names are both individual achievements and the backbone of several General achievements. A single ordinary run can contribute to The Viking, but specialized versions still need their own qualifying conditions: fists for The Pugilist, Normal-or-higher for The Tough Viking, Hard for The Toughest Viking, solo for Lone Wolf, and a friend present for Stronger Together.

Exploration achievements (5)

Achievement Requirement
The Legends Are True Die by sailing over the edge of the world.
The Explorer Reach the far north, south, east, and west edges of the map.
The Pathfinder Reach all four far edges with the map disabled.
The Sailor Sail a total distance of 131,946.
The Captain Sail 65,973 distance units while manning the helm.

The Sailor counts total sailing distance, whereas The Captain is a helm-specific total. Track both counters separately. The Explorer and Pathfinder are four-direction edge checks, but Pathfinder adds the map-disabled qualifier; it is not completed merely by visiting the same edges with the map visible.

Combat achievements (2)

Achievement Requirement
The Hunter Kill every kind of creature in the tracked 105-type set.
The Master Hunter Kill every kind of creature in that same 105-type set on Hard difficulty or above.

The two combat achievements use the same 105 creature types in the current Valheim.tools database. The difference is the qualifying difficulty, so a complete ordinary creature sweep does not automatically satisfy The Master Hunter. Keep creature names and difficulty status in a checklist instead of relying on memory.

Building and crafting achievements (9)

Achievement Requirement
The Homesteader Build a house that meets the tracked floor, wall, roof, and related conditions.
The Architect Build a village that meets all eight tracked construction conditions.
Mighty Halls Reach a maximum building height of 49.
Top of the World Build to a world height of 432.
The Chosen One Assemble Dyrnwyn.
The Blacksmith Craft all 164 weapon items.
The Artisan Craft all 473 tracked items.
The Carpenter Build all 389 build pieces.
The Builder Build 500 pieces.

The counts overlap in subject but not in meaning. The Blacksmith is the 164-weapon subset, The Artisan is the 473-item crafting set, and The Carpenter is the complete 389-piece construction set. The Builder is a quantity target of 500 pieces, so it is a count of placements rather than proof that every build-piece type has been used. Record each category independently.

How does Valheim 1.0 achievement tracking work?

Iron Gate’s FAQ states that the system begins tracking statistics from the moment you download 1.0. That date is the practical starting line for cumulative counters and historical conditions. A world that existed earlier can still be useful for ordinary play, but it is harder to audit than a new post-1.0 setup.

  • A pre-1.0 Eikthyr kill does not satisfy Eikthyr; repeat the fight after downloading 1.0.
  • Use a post-1.0 character and world if you want a clean audit trail. This avoids having to determine whether an old counter was recorded.
  • Plan around the tracked sets rather than visible inventory alone: Hunter uses 105 creature types, Trophy Collector uses 70 trophies, Master Chef uses 81 dishes, and Gourmet uses 96 edible items.
  • Keep a dated checklist for bosses, edge visits, difficulty, and collection categories. The milestone achievements are summaries, so a checklist is more useful than waiting for a summary to reveal which entry is missing.

Can cheats or devcommands block achievements?

Yes. Iron Gate says most devcommands, spawned items, and some modifiers—including hammer-mode—can place a character in a state that blocks achievements. Treat a character used for testing or spawning as ineligible until its status is clear.

Recovering a temporarily cheated character

Iron Gate also says a temporarily cheated character can become eligible again after all cheated items are thrown out of the inventory. Remove every spawned or otherwise cheated item before attempting new achievement conditions; do not assume that turning a command off immediately restores eligibility. If there is any uncertainty, perform future work with an unmodified character rather than combining questionable counters with a completion record.

Safest setup for a completion run

  1. Download and launch the 1.0 version before beginning tracked work.
  2. Create or designate a character that has not used devcommands, spawned items, or blocking modifiers.
  3. Keep ordinary progression, Hard-difficulty attempts, and multiplayer sessions organized so you can identify which character and world produced each kill.
  4. If you have already used cheats, discard cheated items as Iron Gate describes, then test future progress on a clean, unmodified session rather than mixing uncertain statistics into the main checklist.

What order should I use to complete the achievements?

The efficient order follows normal biome and boss progression, then returns to global checklists and special conditions. Boss kills unlock the natural route through the world, while several collection achievements become practical only after more crafting stations, recipes, and regions are available. This order is a planning framework, not a requirement that every achievement be earned in one world.

1. Establish the baseline

Begin with the post-1.0 character and world described above. During ordinary play, work toward The Lumberjack, The Farmer, The Forager, The Cook, The Beekeeper, and No Adventuring On an Empty Stomach instead of leaving every cumulative task until the end. These counters are repeatable, so steady progress prevents a final cleanup session from becoming the entire project.

2. Clear the eight bosses

Fight Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Seeker Queen, Fader, and Kall Fimbulbringer. This directly covers the eight Bosses achievements and contributes to The Viking. Keep separate attempts available for fist-only, Normal-or-higher, Hard, solo, and cooperative conditions rather than accidentally invalidating a specialized run. A written boss grid with one column for each condition makes the overlap visible.

3. Schedule difficulty-specific kills

The Tough Viking requires every boss on Normal difficulty or higher. The Toughest Viking requires every boss on Hard, and The Master Hunter requires the complete 105-creature set on Hard difficulty or above. Difficulty is therefore a planning axis, not a single end-of-game toggle: reserve time for the Hard checklist and verify that each required kill is made under the qualifying setting. Do not infer Hard completion from an ordinary kill, even when the same boss has already been defeated.

4. Finish map and sailing work

Use ordinary voyages to build toward The Sailor’s total of 131,946 distance units and The Captain’s 65,973 units while manning the helm. Make dedicated trips for The Explorer at the far north, south, east, and west edges, then repeat the four-edge route with the map disabled for The Pathfinder. The Legends Are True is a separate intentional death by sailing over the edge of the world. Because Explorer and Pathfinder each require four directional checks, mark each edge as it is completed rather than assuming a broad voyage covered all four.

5. Build and craft in batches

Construct a qualifying house for The Homesteader, then a village satisfying all eight tracked construction conditions for The Architect. Use a tall, deliberately measured build for Mighty Halls (maximum building height 49) and Top of the World (world height 432). After the required recipes and materials are available, track the 164 weapons, 473 craftable items, and 389 build pieces separately; The Builder is a count of 500 pieces, while The Carpenter requires the complete build-piece set. A batch approach lets one construction area contribute to the quantity target while a separate checklist confirms every distinct piece.

6. Sweep creatures, trophies, food, and fish

Keep a written or spreadsheet checklist for the 105 creature types and 70 trophies. The same creature set is needed again on Hard for The Master Hunter. For cooking and eating, distinguish the counters: 100 dishes cooked for The Cook, all 81 dishes for The Master Chef, 500 food items eaten for No Adventuring On an Empty Stomach, and all 96 edible items for The Gourmet. Catch all 12 tracked fish for The Fisherman, then target a four-star fish for A Catch Worthy of Njord. Do not substitute one food list for another: cooked dishes and edible items are separate tracked sets.

Which achievements need special deaths or survival conditions?

Several General achievements are deliberately easier to manage as a controlled checklist than as accidents during a normal world. Separate dangerous tests from the character you are using for The Survivor, because one death would interrupt its 30 consecutive days.

  • The First of Many asks you to die once and continue the journey.
  • Obliterated requires death by an incinerator.
  • Accidents Happen requires a tree to kill you.
  • That Can’t Be an Accident expands the tree requirement to 10 tracked kinds.
  • Are You Alright? requires every one of 16 tracked death conditions.
  • The Survivor requires 30 consecutive days alive.
  • Comfort is King requires comfort level 20.
  • No Time For Snoozing requires awakening a sea creature.

Do the 30-day survival and comfort work on a stable home character, and reserve a separate session for dangerous death conditions. Maintain a death-condition checklist for the 10 tree types and 16 total ways rather than assuming one dramatic death satisfies several entries.

How do the multiplayer and solo achievements work?

Stronger Together requires killing a boss with a friend, while Lone Wolf requires killing a boss entirely solo. They represent opposite session conditions, so record which boss attempt is cooperative and which is completed without another player. The broader boss achievements still need their own difficulty and fist-only planning where applicable. A cooperative kill does not replace the solo test, and a solo kill does not replace the friend-assisted test.

What is required for 100% completion?

Complete all 54 preceding achievements, then unlock The Most Worthy. The milestone achievements help organize the work: Kings and Queens of Valheim checks Viking, Hunter, Artisan, Master Chef, Carpenter, and Explorer, while Child of Odin checks Toughest Viking, Master Hunter, Survivor, and Pathfinder.

Because those two milestones depend on several large checklists, do not treat a missing milestone as proof that one particular underlying task failed. Compare your records against the five category tables, especially the 105-creature, 70-trophy, 81-dish, 96-food, 164-weapon, 473-item, and 389-build-piece sets. Once every listed achievement is unlocked, The Most Worthy is the final account-wide completion check.

What should I do if an achievement does not unlock?

Check the 1.0 starting point

If the condition was completed before downloading 1.0, repeat it after 1.0 tracking began. Eikthyr is explicitly documented as requiring a post-1.0 repeat.

Check cheat state and inventory

Review whether devcommands, spawned items, hammer-mode, or another modifier was active. For a temporarily cheated character, discard all cheated items as directed by Iron Gate before trying again; a command being switched off is not the same as clearing the blocked state.

Recheck exact qualifiers

Confirm the map was disabled for all four Pathfinder edges, the helm was manned for Captain distance, the difficulty met the requirement, and the multiplayer condition matched the achievement. For collection achievements, compare the tracked set count rather than assuming that every visible variant has been recorded.

Allow for fixed launch bugs

Iron Gate’s 1.0.16 announcement lists fixes for Child of Odin not unlocking correctly and for Comfort is King not unlocking correctly. If your conditions are complete but one of these two remains locked, update the game and perform the relevant qualifying action again.

Which achievements are the biggest time investments?

The answer depends on how you play, but the database counts identify the broadest workloads. The 105-creature Hunter set, 70 trophies, 81 dishes, 96 edible items, 164 weapons, 473 tracked craftable items, and 389 build pieces are checklist-heavy. The 131,946 sailing distance for The Sailor and 65,973 helm distance for The Captain are cumulative travel goals. Trees, crops, berries, mushrooms, honey, cooked dishes, and eaten food are repeatable counters that can be advanced during normal activity.

Difficulty and session conditions add a second layer rather than replacing those collections. Hard boss kills and Hard creature kills need explicit qualification, while Stronger Together and Lone Wolf require opposite player setups. Treat progression, grind, checklist breadth, difficulty, and multiplayer as separate columns in your plan. That comparison prevents a nearly complete character from being blocked by one overlooked category.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do achievements from an old Valheim character carry over after 1.0?

Treat pre-1.0 statistics as untracked for completion planning. The documented exception is Eikthyr, which Iron Gate says must be killed again after 1.0 is downloaded; repeating other uncertain milestones on a clean post-1.0 character is the safest way to remove ambiguity.

How many creature types are needed for The Hunter?

The Hunter checklist contains 105 creature types in the current Valheim.tools database. The Master Hunter uses that same 105-type set, but each qualifying kill must be made on Hard difficulty or above.

Can the same character earn both Stronger Together and Lone Wolf?

The requirements describe different boss sessions: one with a friend and one completed entirely solo. Keep the two attempts distinct and make sure no other player is present during the Lone Wolf kill.

What does Pathfinder’s map-disabled requirement mean?

Pathfinder is not simply another four-edge journey. It requires reaching the far north, south, east, and west edges while the in-game map is disabled, so prepare navigation and route notes before starting that sweep.

What is the difference between The Sailor and The Captain?

The Sailor requires 131,946 total sailing distance units. The Captain requires 65,973 distance units specifically while you are manning the helm, so the two totals should be tracked separately.

Do Hard-mode boss kills also satisfy The Tough Viking?

The Tough Viking requires every boss on Normal difficulty or higher, so qualifying Hard kills meet that difficulty threshold. You still need all eight bosses, and The Toughest Viking has its separate all-boss Hard requirement.

How many dishes and foods are needed for the cooking achievements?

The Cook is a 100-dish quantity target, Master Chef covers all 81 tracked dishes, No Adventuring On an Empty Stomach requires eating 500 food items, and Gourmet covers all 96 tracked edible items. These are distinct counters.

Can cheats permanently ruin a character’s achievement eligibility?

Iron Gate says most devcommands, spawned items, and some modifiers can block achievements. A temporarily cheated character can become eligible again after all cheated items are thrown out, but a clean character and session are the least ambiguous option.

What should I do if Child of Odin or Comfort is King stays locked?

Iron Gate’s 1.0.16 announcement records fixes for both achievements. Update the game, verify the listed requirements again, and repeat the relevant qualifying action if necessary.

The Bottom Line

For 100% completion, start tracking on a clean post-1.0 character, clear all eight bosses, then work through Hard, exploration, construction, collection, survival, death, solo, and cooperative requirements with separate checklists. Unlock the first 54 achievements and The Most Worthy completes the set.
