All Weapons in Resident Evil Requiem: Locations, Unlocks, and Character Loadouts

October 26, 2026 9 min read

Spoiler warning: this guide names weapons, boss rewards, late-game areas, and post-game unlocks. There is no single reliable “all weapons” number for Resident Evil Requiem because lists differ on whether they count knives, grenades, Molotov cocktails, acid bottles, and temporarily used enemy weapons. Using the practical guide definition—persistent firearms, melee weapons, explosives, and special unlocks—the roster is split between Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, with separate story, supply-box, bonus, and Insanity routes.

Grace survives with limited storage, evasion, crafting, and a small personal arsenal. Leon carries an attaché case, buys and upgrades firearms at supply boxes, and can use a much broader combat loadout. The sections below identify where each item comes from and which ones require another playthrough, challenge points, or Insanity difficulty.

What counts as “all weapons” in Resident Evil Requiem?

Weapon totals depend on the inclusion rule. A strict inventory count includes firearms and persistent melee weapons. A broader completionist count also includes hand grenades and crafted throwables, while an encounter-based count may add the chainsaw Leon can seize from an enemy. The chainsaw is usable during its encounter but is not treated as a normal, persistent inventory weapon by the detailed location guides.

This guide uses four acquisition groups: story equipment, Leon’s supply-box purchases, challenge-point bonus weapons, and the Insanity-specific knife. The Requiem revolver appears in both characters’ campaigns, and Mortal Edge has both a story acquisition and a bonus-unlock route, so those should not be counted twice.

The game launched on February 27, 2026. Capcom announced PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and later announced Nintendo Switch 2 for launch. Platform editions and future updates can change availability, but the weapon routes below describe the post-release campaign guides currently available.

How do Grace and Leon’s weapon systems differ?

Grace and Leon do not share one common inventory system. Grace’s chapters emphasize survival-horror movement, puzzles, enemy analysis, constrained supplies, and crafting from infected blood. Leon’s chapters are more combat-forward: he has an attaché case, supply boxes, weapon upgrades, parries, melee attacks, and opportunities to use enemy weapons.

Grace: limited inventory and no firearm upgrades

Grace can store weapons in safe rooms, but her carrying capacity is deliberately restrictive. She does not use Leon’s upgrade system. A weapon that is useful for a specific corridor or enemy may therefore be worth storing rather than carrying through every puzzle room. Her throwable items can be found or crafted after she learns the appropriate recipe.

Leon: attaché case, supply boxes, and upgrade parts

Leon manages equipment at supply boxes, where he can buy, sell, repurchase, and upgrade firearms. PlayStation’s comparison panel lists six useful axes: Power, Stability, Precision, Rate of Fire, Reload Speed, and Ammo Capacity. These are trade-offs, not a universal ranking; the right choice changes with the encounter, ammunition supply, and difficulty.

Which weapons does Grace find during the story?

Grace’s story arsenal is compact. The two ordinary handguns have different guide descriptions, but the available sources do not establish a dependable overall ranking between them.

Handguns

  • B934 handgun: found in the Dining Room of the Care Center’s West Wing.
  • S&S M232 handgun: found in the Care Center’s Bar & Lounge. Grace loses it early in the story, but a later section lets her retrieve it.
  • Requiem revolver: obtained through story progression. It is an assault revolver with high-powered piercing capability and limited capacity, and both Grace and Leon use it during the campaign.

Melee weapons

  • Makeshift Knife: found in several areas as Grace explores.
  • Hunting Knife: another area-pickup knife found during Grace’s route.

The location guides describe the knives as separate finds rather than upgrade tiers. Because Grace’s inventory is tight, pick up and store them according to the route you are playing instead of assuming every knife must remain equipped.

Crafted and found throwables

  • Molotov Cocktail: found in the environment or crafted after Grace learns its recipe.
  • Bottle of Acid: found or crafted after the acid recipe becomes available.

These throwables are why some completion lists report more “weapons” than firearm-only lists. They consume resources and occupy inventory space, so a guide that counts every consumable is answering a broader question than a guide that counts only persistent equipment.

Which weapons does Leon obtain in the main story?

Leon begins with a larger combat toolkit and adds weapons through set-piece progression, pickups, and boss rewards. The following items are the main story route before optional challenge-point unlocks.

Starting equipment and the shared revolver

  • Hatchet: available by default. It supports melee attacks and parries; its edge loses sharpness, but it can be sharpened again.
  • Alligator Snapper handgun: available by default.
  • Requiem revolver: received through story progression. Its piercing power is offset by limited capacity, so it is not simply a replacement for every high-capacity firearm.

Shotguns and explosive items

  • MSBG 500 shotgun: found in the Attic before the Chunk encounter.
  • W870 Police shotgun: found at Gun Shop Kendo.
  • Hand grenades: picked up in multiple locations, including a drop. They are consumable items rather than a permanent firearm slot.

Rifles and automatic weapons

  • Classic 70 rifle: acquired through story progression, before the rooftop sequence.
  • Gal submachine gun: found in the underground parking garage in East Raccoon City.
  • Marksman 1A rifle: found in a BSAA container in East Raccoon City.

Melee reward and temporary enemy weapon

  • Mortal Edge: dropped by a boss in the ARK. It is also available through bonus content, but those are two acquisition routes for the same named weapon, not two separate weapons.
  • Enemy chainsaw: Leon can take and use one during an encounter, as described in PlayStation’s hands-on coverage. The reviewed location guides do not list it as a normal persistent inventory item.

Which Leon weapons are bought at supply boxes?

Three firearms are purchasable rather than ordinary map pickups. A location guide places their availability in East Raccoon City, where Leon spends credits earned by defeating enemies. Treat these as shop options when planning a build, not as missed floor pickups.

Weapon Type Acquisition
Silencer 9 Handgun Purchase at a Leon supply box in East Raccoon City with earned credits
990-TAC Shotgun Purchase at a Leon supply box in East Raccoon City with earned credits
Stiri REVO3 A1 Submachine gun Purchase at a Leon supply box in East Raccoon City with earned credits

Because Leon can sell, store, and repurchase equipment at these boxes, buying one of these guns does not necessarily mean carrying it immediately. Compare its Power, Stability, Precision, Rate of Fire, Reload Speed, and Ammo Capacity against what is already in the case and against the ammunition you are finding.

Which weapons unlock after the campaign or with challenge points?

Special weapons are described as bonus-content unlocks purchased with challenge points after enough campaign progress, commonly after a first playthrough. Exact requirements can depend on difficulty and the version of the game, so check the in-game challenge menu for the condition shown on your save.

Weapon Character Type Route
Freya’s Needle Grace Machine pistol Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points
Kotetsu Grace Knife with unlimited durability Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points
Matilda IMP Leon Three-round-burst handgun Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points
Ghost Grudge Leon Revolver using 12.7×55mm ammunition Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points
Redemption Leon Assault rifle Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points
Mortal Edge Leon Axe Bonus route; the same weapon is also a story boss drop
RPG-7 Leon Rocket launcher Bonus-content unlock purchased with challenge points

One guide spells the unbreakable Grace knife “Kotetsu,” while another renders it “Koktesu.” The two listings refer to the same item, not separate knives. Use the spelling shown in your game’s menu if you are matching a challenge list.

What is the R.I.P. Knife, and how do you get it?

The R.I.P. Knife is tied to Insanity mode. GameSpot and PowerPyx describe it as an Insanity exclusive or as an item obtained there through Antique Coins and a crafting recipe. Since the exact step can depend on difficulty and progression, start an Insanity run, collect the required Antique Coins, and check the crafting or challenge entry when it appears rather than expecting the knife in a standard first playthrough.

This route is distinct from Kotetsu. Kotetsu is the bonus knife described as having unlimited durability; the R.I.P. Knife is the Insanity-linked item.

How should you plan your inventory and upgrades?

Loadout planning matters more than choosing a single “best” gun. Use the following process when moving between Grace and Leon chapters.

  1. Identify the character and mode. Grace cannot use Leon’s supply-box upgrade loop, while Leon’s campaign supports purchases and customizable parts.
  2. Keep the ammunition picture in view. A high-power weapon with scarce ammunition may be less useful for a long stretch than a lower-power firearm whose rounds are plentiful.
  3. Compare the six Leon statistics. Power helps damage, Stability and Precision affect control and placement, Rate of Fire changes follow-up speed, Reload Speed affects vulnerability, and Ammo Capacity changes how often you must break from an encounter.
  4. Use safe rooms and supply boxes deliberately. Grace can store weapons in safe rooms. Leon can store, sell, buy back, and upgrade at supply boxes, so you do not need to carry every gun at once.
  5. Reserve limited-space items for their purpose. Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, and acid bottles can be valuable against the right threats but compete with healing items and ammunition for capacity.
  6. Separate story completion from bonus completion. Finish the campaign route first, then spend challenge points on special weapons if your goal is a complete unlock collection.

Where are the main story weapons at a glance?

This condensed checklist is organized by character and acquisition so you can mark a route without treating every consumable or temporary weapon as a permanent inventory item.

Character Story locations or conditions Items
Grace Care Center West Wing Dining Room; Care Center Bar & Lounge; story progression; area pickups; recipe-based crafting B934, S&S M232, Requiem, Makeshift Knife, Hunting Knife, Molotov Cocktail, Bottle of Acid
Leon Default equipment; Attic before Chunk; rooftop progression; East Raccoon City parking garage; East Raccoon City BSAA container; Gun Shop Kendo; ARK boss drop; scattered drops Hatchet, Alligator Snapper, Requiem, MSBG 500, Classic 70, Gal, Marksman 1A, W870 Police, Mortal Edge, hand grenades
Leon East Raccoon City supply boxes, purchased with credits Silencer 9, 990-TAC, Stiri REVO3 A1

For a completion file, add the challenge-point weapons and the Insanity route separately. That avoids inflating the story total with items that cannot appear during a normal first campaign.

What does the Requiem gun mean in the story?

Director Kōshi Nakanishi explained that “The title “Requiem”] references a remembrance of not only the [Raccoon City outbreak] incident itself, but all the effects and the people who were affected by it…so the Requiem gun also, in a way, lays the enemies to peace. In a way, it’s also a requiem for them as well.” The revolver’s piercing role therefore has both a mechanical function and a deliberate connection to the game’s theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Grace upgrade the B934 or S&S M232?

No. Grace’s campaign uses limited inventory and safe-room storage rather than Leon’s firearm-upgrade system. Her weapons are managed through carrying, storing, and resource decisions, so a missing upgrade menu is not a bug.

Do I lose the S&S M232 permanently when Grace drops it?

No. The Care Center route allows Grace to retrieve the handgun later. If it is absent immediately after the early loss, continue to the later recovery location rather than restarting the chapter.

Is Leon’s chainsaw included in the weapon collection?

It is usable during the encounter in which Leon takes it from an enemy, but the location guides do not classify it as a persistent inventory weapon. Count it only if your personal checklist includes temporary enemy equipment.

When should I spend challenge points on bonus weapons?

Complete the campaign and review the challenge menu first, because several special weapons are tied to post-game progress or a first clear. Spending points after you know the unlock conditions prevents confusing a bonus purchase with a story pickup.
