Dead by Daylight Licensed DLC Delists: What Owners Keep and What Disappears

Published 9 min read

When a licensed character leaves Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive normally removes the chapter from first-party stores and the in-game store—but does not delete it from players who unlocked it in time. Existing owners keep the Killer or Survivor, unlocked cosmetics, perks, progression and add-ons. New players lose the ability to buy that character after the published cutoff. Licensed maps are the major exception: they are removed from the normal map rotation for everyone. Perk effects also remain obtainable because the unique perks move into the General pool under new names. For Chucky (The Good Guy), the hard deadline is 11am Eastern Time on 24 November 2026 (8am PT, 4pm UTC, 5pm CET).

This is a store and licensing change, not an account wipe. The practical decision is whether you want the character itself, a particular store cosmetic, or only the perk effects before the clock runs out.

What changes when a licensed Dead by Daylight chapter is removed?

The purchase window closes, while content already unlocked remains usable. Behaviour’s delist FAQs use the same pattern for Chucky, Hellraiser and Halloween.

Content If you unlocked it before the cutoff If you did not unlock it
Killer or Survivor Remains playable, including in future updates. Cannot be newly purchased after the deadline.
Unlocked cosmetics Remain available on the linked account. Store sales end; new outfits are unavailable unless the license returns.
Unique perks Keep the original licensed names in that character’s Bloodweb. Equivalent effects enter the General perk pool under renamed perks.
Licensed map Is removed from the public map rotation even for owners. Also unavailable in ordinary matchmaking.
Prestige rewards and perk charms Can still be earned by levelling the unlocked character. Cannot be earned without the character.
Bloodpoints and add-ons Can still be spent on the unlocked character and its add-ons. No new character unlock after the cutoff.

Ownership is account-based. Content unlocked before the deadline remains available when you use BHVR cross-progression on linked accounts, and Behaviour says streaming remains unrestricted for content you already unlocked.

When does the Chucky DLC leave Dead by Daylight?

The Chucky Chapter and associated content leave in-game and first-party stores at 11am ET on 24 November 2026. That is 8am PT, 4pm UTC and 5pm CET on the same date. “November 24” does not mean the end of your local calendar day; the Eastern Time cutoff is the controlling deadline.

Chucky launched in November 2023 as The Good Guy, the in-game Killer from Child’s Play. Behaviour’s October 2026 announcement says any content unlocked before the deadline remains playable. If you intend to buy, complete the purchase before the final day and verify that the character appears as unlocked rather than waiting for the last hour.

What are the Chucky last-chance sale windows?

Behaviour announced a 50% discount on Chucky DLC and related cosmetics, with every regional window ending at the cutoff. Store prices can differ by region, so check the live listing in your account.

Store Sale dates
Epic Games 26 October–24 November 2026
Xbox / Windows Store 26 October–24 November 2026
PlayStation 2–24 November 2026
Steam 10–24 November 2026
Nintendo Switch (North America) 26 October–24 November 2026
Nintendo Switch (Europe) 27 October–24 November 2026
Nintendo Switch (Japan) 28 October–24 November 2026

These are the published 2026 windows, checked November 2026. Behaviour published the discount percentage and dates, not a complete cosmetic price list.

What do Chucky owners keep after the delist?

Anyone who unlocked The Good Guy before 11am ET on 24 November 2026 keeps the character and can continue using him normally.

The Killer and progression

  • The Good Guy remains playable.
  • Bloodpoints can still be spent on Chucky and his Add-Ons.
  • Character quests continue for an unlocked Chucky.
  • Owners can Prestige Chucky and earn his three Prestige Cosmetics and three Perk Charms after the store closes.
  • Behaviour says bug fixes and ongoing support continue for Chucky.

Cosmetics already unlocked

Every Chucky cosmetic you obtained before the deadline stays on the account. That includes Tiffany, the Legendary Outfit based on Chucky’s bride and voiced by Jennifer Tilly. The ownership rule applies to associated content you actually unlocked, not to items that merely appeared in the store.

What you cannot earn later

The Good Guys Box Charm and other chapter extras that you had not unlocked by the deadline cannot be newly obtained afterward. Store outfits are a separate expiring purchase: owning Chucky does not reserve a skin you never bought. Behaviour’s FAQ states that 11am on 24 November is the last opportunity to obtain Chucky outfits and that there will be no future outfits for this license.

How do Chucky’s perks work after removal?

Perk effects are not deleted. Owners keep the licensed names in The Good Guy’s Bloodweb, while every other Killer can obtain the same effects as renamed General perks.

Chucky perk name (owners retain) General-pool name
Hex: Two Can Play Hex: Eye For An Eye
Friends Til the End One Track Mind
Batteries Included Gaining Steam

Therefore, buying Chucky solely to preserve access to these effects is optional. Buy the chapter if you want The Good Guy, his original perk labels, his progression and his exclusive cosmetics—not because the perk mechanics disappear for everyone else.

What happens to a licensed map?

A licensed map is treated differently from a character. When the license leaves, the map is removed from the regular matchmaking rotation for the whole player base, including people who owned the chapter. Character ownership cannot preserve public access to that map.

Haddonfield

The Halloween chapter’s Haddonfield map left rotation on 19 January 2026, and the Strode Realty Key offering was retired from the Bloodweb. Owners kept The Shape, Laurie Strode and their cosmetics, but could not keep Haddonfield in ordinary matchmaking.

Hawkins National Laboratory

When Stranger Things was delisted in 2021, Hawkins National Laboratory was sealed out of the regular game. The Demogorgon, Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler remained playable for owners. This map rule is why buying a character chapter is not a guarantee that its licensed arena will remain available forever.

Can a removed Dead by Daylight license return?

Yes, a return is possible, but Behaviour does not promise a timetable. Stranger Things left stores on 17 November 2021, returned in November 2023 with its characters, cosmetics and Hawkins Lab, and received a second chapter—Vecna, Dustin Henderson and Eleven—in January 2026.

Behaviour says horror icons have an “open invitation” to rejoin the Fog. That is an invitation, not a renewal announcement. There is no published schedule for Chucky, Hellraiser or Halloween to return, so postponing a purchase assumes a possibility rather than a plan.

Should you buy Chucky before the deadline?

Use the content you actually want as the deciding factor.

Buy before 11am ET on 24 November if you want:

  • The Good Guy as a playable Killer.
  • Tiffany or another specific store outfit.
  • Chucky’s original licensed perk names in his Bloodweb.
  • Future Prestige Cosmetics, Perk Charms, quests and add-on progression for the character.

You can wait if you only want:

  • The mechanical effects of Hex: Two Can Play, Friends Til the End or Batteries Included; their renamed General versions remain obtainable without owning Chucky.
  • A licensed map in public matchmaking; buying the character does not prevent that map from leaving rotation.

Checklist before purchasing

  1. Check your platform’s store page and local price; the 50% promotion is time-limited and region-specific.
  2. Complete the transaction before 11am ET, not merely before midnight on November 24 in your region.
  3. Launch the game and confirm The Good Guy shows as unlocked.
  4. If you use cross-progression, link the intended BHVR account and verify the character and cosmetics appear there before changing platforms.
  5. Purchase any store outfit you want separately; owning the chapter does not unlock every cosmetic.

What happened with Hellraiser and Halloween?

Earlier delists establish the same owner-protection policy while showing different cutoff dates.

Chapter Store cutoff What remained for owners Map result
Stranger Things 17 November 2021 Demogorgon, Steve, Nancy, cosmetics and character progression Hawkins Lab removed, later restored
Hellraiser 4 April 2025, 11am ET (platform DLC was removed earlier) The Cenobite, cosmetics, perks, Prestige rewards and add-ons No licensed map in the chapter
Halloween 19 January 2026, 11am ET The Shape, Laurie, cosmetics, perks and progression Haddonfield removed; Strode Realty Key retired
Chucky 24 November 2026, 11am ET The Good Guy, unlocked cosmetics, perks, Prestige rewards, charms and quests No announced map removal because the chapter has no licensed map

For Halloween, non-owners receive General-perk names such as Keep Them Waiting, See How They Run, Cull The Weak, Down To The Last, Bound by Obsession and Will To Live. Hellraiser’s published FAQ confirmed renamed General perks but did not list their replacement names.

Why do licensed characters leave?

Behaviour says its goal is to keep licenses forever, but sometimes retaining the rights is not possible despite its efforts. Its public statements do not identify a lawsuit, contract length or specific rights-holder dispute for Chucky, Pinhead or Myers.

Reports have noted other horror games announced around the Myers and Pinhead delists, while Behaviour has not confirmed those projects as the cause. There is also no indication from Behaviour that a Child’s Play game is why Chucky is leaving. Treat those explanations as speculation, not established cause.

Does “owned” changing to “unlocked” mean the DLC was taken away?

No. In 2025, Behaviour representatives explained that the label changed to comply with regional laws and regulations; the entitlement and gameplay meaning did not change. If you unlocked a character, the wording change alone does not remove it.

This is separate from a genuine platform-account access problem. Behaviour’s support guidance identifies Family Sharing being disabled, a sharing host being banned, moving country or region, buying the base game after borrowing DLC, and PS4-to-PS5 license quirks as ordinary causes of apparent DLC loss. Those cases require platform or account troubleshooting; they are not the licensed-chapter delist policy.

What does Behaviour’s refund policy mean?

For Chucky, Behaviour says owners experience zero gameplay or overall-experience change and therefore it will issue no refunds. That is the publisher’s stated policy, not a ruling on consumer-refund rights in every country or storefront.

If your region’s law gives you a separate statutory remedy, consult the platform’s refund process and the applicable consumer authority. A delist does not, by itself, turn an already unlocked character into a nonfunctional purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to achievements tied to a removed chapter?

Behaviour converted character-specific Stranger Things achievements into generic achievements so they could still be earned after delisting. The published Chucky FAQ does not announce a Chucky-specific achievement conversion, so players should not assume a particular treatment until Behaviour posts one.

What should I do if a purchased character is missing after a delist?

First check that you are signed into the purchasing platform account and that any Family Sharing arrangement is still active. Keep the transaction receipt, then use the platform’s DLC support route or Behaviour’s support channel; a missing entitlement is handled as an account or platform issue, not as normal license removal.

Does a possible license return make waiting safe?

No. Stranger Things demonstrates that a return can happen, but Behaviour has not scheduled a Chucky, Hellraiser or Halloween return. Waiting means accepting that the character and its store cosmetics may remain unavailable indefinitely.

Can local consumer law override Behaviour’s no-refund statement?

Behaviour’s FAQ describes its own refund position and does not decide every region’s legal rights. Refund eligibility can depend on your country, storefront and purchase circumstances, so use the platform’s regional policy if you believe statutory rights apply.
