Soulmask Server Admin Commands and How to Use Them

October 26, 2026 10 min read

Soulmask admin (GM) commands work only on a dedicated server that was started with an administrator password. After joining, open the console with ~ (or, on some keyboard layouts, the numeric-keypad minus key), enter gm key YOUR_ADMIN_PASSWORD, repeat that password in the GM panel, and choose Become the admin. Only then will the console accept management commands. The exact command literal can change between patches and hosting builds, so use the console’s autocomplete instead of combining lists from different versions.

This guide covers setup, authentication, movement and progression commands, world controls, remote administration, version differences, and recovery procedures for mistakes.

What are Soulmask server admin commands?

Soulmask calls its privileged controls GM commands. They run from the in-game console and let an authenticated administrator alter a player, inspect the world, move a character, recruit or remove NPCs, unlock progression, change invasion heat, and save the world. They are separate from normal chat and do not become available merely because you can open the console.

Nitrado’s administration guidance states that Soulmask console commands work only on a dedicated server. A rented private server or a self-hosted dedicated instance qualifies; a normal local or single-player session does not provide this GM workflow. DatHost uses “admin commands” and “GM commands” interchangeably in its server documentation.

There are two command families to keep distinct:

  • In-game GM commands: entered by an authenticated player through the console.
  • Remote server controls: Telnet or RCON-style commands sent to the server process, such as a delayed shutdown or a world save.

Remote controls do not replace in-game authentication. They are a separate maintenance channel with their own password, port, and network restrictions.

How do I configure an administrator password?

Set the GM password before the server starts. If the process was launched without one, adding a password after players have joined will not authenticate an existing session; change the setting and restart first.

  1. Stop the server cleanly. Use your host’s stop control or an agreed maintenance window so players are not disconnected during a write.
  2. Set the password in the startup configuration. The private-server reference uses the launch parameter -adminpsw="yourGMpassword". Hosting panels may expose the same value as an Admin Password or GM activation password field. Use a value that is not used for a player account or your remote console.
  3. Save the configuration and restart. The parameter is read at launch. Check the startup log or panel status to confirm that the new process is running.
  4. Keep the value private. Anyone who knows it can authenticate as an administrator once they join. Do not paste it into public chat, screenshots, ticket threads, or scripts committed to a shared repository.

If the panel has both an Admin Password and an RCON password, fill them separately. The former is for the in-game gm key flow; the latter is for remote administration.

How do I become an admin in game?

Authentication has two stages. Opening the panel is not enough; you must submit the password both in the console and in the panel.

  1. Join the dedicated Soulmask server as a normal player.
  2. Press the tilde key, ~. On builds or keyboard layouts that do not respond, try the numeric-keypad subtract/minus key.
  3. Enter gm key YOUR_ADMIN_PASSWORD, replacing the placeholder with the exact startup password, then submit it.
  4. When the GM panel appears, enter the same password in its password field.
  5. Click Become the admin.
  6. Close the panel, reopen the console, and run a command. The server should now provide command feedback or apply the change.

Run one command at a time while learning the system. If the console rejects a command, use its autocomplete list to discover the spelling accepted by that server build rather than repeatedly guessing.

Which commands are useful for player progression and recovery?

The following entries are documented by current hosting guides. Bracketed text is an argument you supply; do not type the brackets.

Command Purpose Operational notes
gm AddExp [value] Adds character experience. Use a numeric value accepted by the server; test on a private instance before applying large amounts.
gm Addmjexp [value] Adds mask experience. The spelling and capitalization shown are from older command tables.
gm Addshoulieexp [value]
gm AddShouLieExp [value]
Adds hunting experience. References disagree on capitalization. Autocomplete is authoritative.
gm XiDian Resets points. Confirm what is selected before executing; the effect changes progression allocation.
gm ZiSha 1 Kills or suicides the executing character. Use only when a character is genuinely stuck or a test requires a death state.
gm FuHuo Revives the character. Useful after a test death or an unusual recovery situation.
gm ShowInfo 1 Shows your own quality, skills, talents, and related information. Use 0 for targeted-character information.
gm ShowInfo 0 Shows information for the targeted character. Target the intended player or NPC first.

How do I teleport, recruit NPCs, or change the world?

World commands can affect everyone in the area or the entire map. Stand clear of other players and announce disruptive actions before using them.

Command What it does Important condition
gm Go [position_x] [position_y] [position_z] Teleports the executing character to three-dimensional coordinates. Use coordinates obtained from a trusted location readout; an invalid or hazardous destination can strand the character.
gm ZhaoMu Quick-recruits the targeted NPC. Target the NPC before opening or submitting the command.
gm ClearAllNpc Clears all NPCs. Server-wide or area-wide consequences are possible; reserve for maintenance or a test world.
gm ClearSelect Removes the selected target. Verify the reticle target; selecting the wrong entity can remove something valuable.
gm ShuaXinZhiBei Refreshes vegetation in range. Remain in the area that needs the refresh.
gm SetAttr YinShen 1 Enables invisibility. Applies to the executing character.
gm SetAttr YinShen 0 Disables invisibility. Use the same character that enabled it.
gm JSMJ Repairs mask nodes. Check the result before repeating the command.
gm ShowMap Unlocks map information. Some newer builds expose this as gm show_map.
gm KeJiShu Unlocks technology-tree nodes. Some newer builds expose this as gm unlock_techs.

How do I manage barbarian heat, missions, and saves?

These commands alter invasion state or persistent world data, so use a manual save before experimenting.

Command Result
gm ShowReDu Displays the barbarian-invasion heat chart.
gm ClearAllReDu Clears invasion heat.
gm AddReDu [value] Increases invasion heat at the current location by the supplied value.
gm ChongZhiRenWu Resets tutorial missions.
gm BaoCun Manually saves the world on references that expose this newer command form.

A manual save is not a substitute for a provider snapshot or a copied save directory. It writes the current state; it does not create an independent rollback point.

Why do Soulmask command names differ between guides?

Soulmask command tables are patch- and build-sensitive. Older hosting references list camel-case or transliterated names such as gm AddExp, gm Addmjexp, gm ZhaoMu, gm ShowMap, and gm KeJiShu. Newer community references also show underscore forms such as gm add_exp, gm add_mask_exp, gm recruit, gm show_map, and gm unlock_techs.

Do not assume that one spelling is universally valid, and do not combine arguments from different lists. Identify the game patch and hosting build, open the console, and type the first distinctive characters. Select the entry offered by autocomplete, then inspect the suggested argument format. If no entry appears, the command is not exposed by that build or the account has not completed authentication.

Capitalization can matter for entries such as the hunting-experience command, where both Addshoulieexp and AddShouLieExp appear in published tables. Treat the literal displayed by your server as the source of truth.

How do remote Telnet and RCON administration work?

Remote administration is useful when the game world is unavailable, but it is not the same as the in-game GM panel. The private-server documentation identifies default game and query ports of 8777 and 27015, plus an EchoPort maintenance port. It also documents delayed shutdown and save examples:

  • quit 30 schedules a shutdown after 30 seconds.
  • saveworld 1 requests a world save.

A community technical reference lists launch parameters including -rconpsw, -rconport, and a safe-IP configuration. Because those settings are implementation-specific, copy the exact port and IP allow-list syntax from your current server software or host panel. Never expose a Telnet or RCON port to the public internet without an allow-list, firewall rule, and unique password.

Use remote commands for maintenance tasks such as announcing a restart, saving, or shutting down. Use the in-game console for player-targeted actions, teleportation, NPC interaction, and progression changes. Keeping the two channels separate makes it easier to audit who changed the world and why.

What should I save before using a destructive command?

Commands that delete entities, alter permissions, or rewrite progression can affect every player. Make a backup or provider snapshot, then perform the action during a maintenance window.

  • Save first: run gm BaoCun where that command is available, or use the remote saveworld 1 control.
  • Create an independent rollback: download or snapshot the world files through the host panel. A manual save alone does not preserve the previous state.
  • Test privately: reproduce the command on a separate instance with a copy of the world before using it on a populated server.
  • Warn players: explain what will change, when the server will restart, and how rollback decisions will be made.
  • Change one variable: execute one command, verify the result, and record the time and operator.

Use extra caution with gm ClearAllNpc, gm ClearSelect, account or permission-list operations, and any command that resets missions or progression. A typo in a target or an unexpected build-specific interpretation can be more damaging than a rejected command.

How do I ban or unban a Steam account from the server?

The private-server administration reference documents permission-list commands that operate on a Steam ID:

  • AddServerPermissionList 1 [steamID] adds the ID to the ban list.
  • RemoveServerPermissionList 1 [steamID] removes the ID from that list.

These are server-wide permission changes, not character actions. Confirm the Steam ID from a reliable server record, keep a written incident note, and save before changing the list. Because permission syntax can vary with server software, verify the command in the host’s current console or autocomplete before applying it to a live community.

What are the most common reasons a command fails?

The console opens but every command is rejected

You probably have not completed the second authentication step. Enter gm key YOUR_ADMIN_PASSWORD, submit the password again in the panel, and click Become the admin. Reopen the console after the panel closes.

The password is reported as invalid

Check that the server was restarted after changing -adminpsw or the panel’s Admin Password field. Remove accidental spaces, use the exact case, and make sure you are entering the GM password rather than an RCON password.

A familiar command is unknown

The server may use a different patch literal. Type a distinctive prefix and choose autocomplete; try the underscore form only if the server suggests it. Do not assume a command copied from an older table still exists.

Teleport produces an unsafe result

Use GPS first to display your current location, then obtain destination coordinates from a controlled test. Move in small increments and keep a normal player nearby to confirm the destination is usable.

An action appears to do nothing

Check targeting and scope. gm ZhaoMu, gm ClearSelect, and gm ShowInfo 0 need an intended target, while heat and map commands may affect a different scope. Read the console response, wait for the server tick, and verify the world before repeating.

The server stopped responding after a change

Use the host panel or remote channel to save or schedule a controlled restart. If the world is corrupted, stop writes, restore the most recent independent snapshot, and document which command ran immediately beforehand.

Which diagnostic commands help during administration?

Two lightweight diagnostics are useful before and after a change:

  • Debuginfo 1 displays server status information.
  • Debuginfo 0 closes that status display.
  • GPS shows your current location, which is useful for recording teleport coordinates and confirming where a command executed.

Run diagnostics before a high-impact action and again afterward when you need evidence that the server accepted it. They do not grant permissions or repair a failed save.

What is a safe first-day workflow for a new administrator?

  1. Set a unique GM password and, separately, an RCON password if remote administration is enabled.
  2. Restart the dedicated server and authenticate with the two-stage process.
  3. Run Debuginfo 1 and GPS to verify that commands are being accepted.
  4. Test a reversible action, such as toggling invisibility with gm SetAttr YinShen 1 and then gm SetAttr YinShen 0.
  5. Create a save and an independent snapshot before trying progression, NPC, heat, or mission commands.
  6. Record the exact autocomplete spelling and argument format for your patch so future operators do not rely on an obsolete list.

This process separates authentication problems from version problems and gives you a known rollback point before touching a populated world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the GM password without deleting the world?

Yes. Stop the server, replace the value supplied to -adminpsw (or the panel’s Admin Password field), save the configuration, and restart. Existing world data is separate from that launch setting, but every administrator must use the new value after the restart.

Are GM commands case-sensitive?

Some builds distinguish capitalization or punctuation, while others expose aliases. Treat the exact autocomplete entry on your server as authoritative, especially for the hunting-experience command and older transliterated names.

How can I find safe coordinates for a teleport?

Use GPS to record a known location, then test destination coordinates on a copy of the world. Keep a second administrator online so someone can recover a character if the destination is inside terrain or outside the playable area.

Should I give moderators the GM password?

Only if they need unrestricted world control. Prefer a small administrator group, a separate RCON credential for maintenance staff, firewall/IP restrictions for remote access, and an audit log of every destructive action.
