The Wolf Among Us Remastered: Complete Story and Extras Explained

Published 8 min read

Yes. The Wolf Among Us Remastered is sold as one complete five-episode season. It includes Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing, and Cry Wolf in the base purchase, so you do not need to buy the old season pass or episode DLC separately. It also includes five playable deleted scenes and other bonus features.

The package is not The Wolf Among Us 2, however. That is a separate sequel planned for 2027. The remaster also does not add a sixth story episode, and Telltale had announced no paid remaster DLC at launch on 29 October 2026.

What does The Wolf Among Us Remastered include?

The remaster contains the entire original mystery campaign in a single product. Telltale and PM Studios describe all five original episodes as one definitive experience rather than separate purchases.

Episode Included? Role in the season
Faith Yes Episode 1
Smoke and Mirrors Yes Episode 2
A Crooked Mile Yes Episode 3
In Sheep’s Clothing Yes Episode 4
Cry Wolf Yes Episode 5 and the season finale

IGN describes the five chapters as roughly two hours each, with the whole season supplied together instead of being sold episode by episode. The plot, dialogue, characters and decision structure are the 2013–14 season, presented with rebuilt visuals, relit scenes, remastered audio and a modern interface.

“All five original episodes – Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf – are included, delivering the complete mystery in one definitive experience,” Telltale and PM Studios said in their 29 October 2026 launch release.

Do I have to buy the original season pass again?

No. The season-pass content from the original release is already part of the remaster’s base game. You buy the remaster once and unlock the complete five-episode campaign.

The original game launched episodically from October 2013 through July 2014. That release model made later chapters look like downloadable content even though they were the remaining parts of one season. The exact storefront treatment varied:

  • Steam and PC: the original product was sold as a full-season purchase. A Steam purchase functioned as the season pass and included all five episodes as they released.
  • Xbox 360 and iOS: Faith could be purchased separately, while a season pass or multipack covered the other four chapters as they arrived.
  • PlayStation 3: episodes could be bought individually or as a complete-season purchase, with the season pass covering the five-episode run.

In other words, “DLC” in the original context generally meant the later episodes, not a separate adventure hidden outside the season. No documented original story expansion beyond those five chapters is required for the remaster’s campaign.

Are the deleted scenes separate DLC?

No. The remaster’s five playable Deleted Scenes are included special features, not a paid add-on. Telltale says they were restored from material cut from the original episodes and can be opened from the remaster’s special-features area.

These scenes sit outside the five-episode campaign. They add restored or alternate material rather than a new episode, new case or continuation after Cry Wolf. A PS5 review by GamingBolt specifically notes five playable scenes, including an alternate take on the Anderson Street cover-up.

What other extras are included?

Beyond the campaign and deleted scenes, the remaster includes archival and behind-the-scenes material:

  • More than 100 pieces of artwork in the gallery, including concept and production material.
  • Over an hour of developer and cast interviews covering the original game and its remaster.
  • Developer commentary and archival material, listed among the feature set by Gematsu.
  • Noir Mode, an optional full black-and-white presentation that can be switched on or off at any time. It changes the visual treatment only; it does not alter dialogue, choices or story outcomes.

The extras are part of the product you purchase. Telltale’s launch materials did not list a deluxe upgrade, bonus pack or remaster season pass for them.

Does the remaster add new episodes or a new ending?

No. It does not add a sixth episode, a new main-story case or a replacement ending. The narrative remains the original five-part season, with presentation improvements and restored side material around it.

Matt Saia, the game’s director and a Telltale vice president of creative, said the team “avoided touching the story, the directorial choices, and the overall art style, those are sacred to us.” The remaster rebuilds and modernizes the presentation without rewriting the season’s decisions or plot.

That distinction matters if you are expecting a sequel setup or additional Fables material. The remaster is a refreshed version of the existing prequel story, not a bridge chapter released ahead of the sequel.

Is The Wolf Among Us 2 included?

No. The Wolf Among Us 2 is a separate game scheduled for 2027. Buying the remaster does not grant the sequel, its episodes or any future downloadable content.

There is one connection between the products: Telltale and PM Studios say defining choices made in the remaster can carry into The Wolf Among Us 2 for players using a signed-in Telltale Account. That is a continuity feature, not a bundle or ownership entitlement. Telltale has not confirmed that save files or choices from the 2013 release can be imported into the remaster, so plan on starting a fresh remaster playthrough if you want its choices available for the sequel.

How much does the remaster cost, and where is it available?

The digital list price is $24.99 USD, according to Telltale and PM Studios. The following launch information was checked in October 2026 and can change after the introductory period.

Digital availability and launch pricing (checked Oct 2026)
Platform Launch availability List price Launch offer, 29 Oct–12 Nov 2026
Steam, including Steam Deck Available 29 Oct 2026 $24.99 USD 20% off for many new buyers; up to 50% off for qualifying digital owners of the original on the same account
Epic Games Store Available 29 Oct 2026 $24.99 USD 20% off for many new buyers
PlayStation 5 Available 29 Oct 2026 $24.99 USD 20% off for PlayStation Plus members; 30% off for qualifying owners without Plus
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Xbox One release; playable on Series X|S through backward compatibility $24.99 USD 20% off for many new buyers; up to 50% off for qualifying digital owners of the original
Nintendo Switch Delayed beyond launch; date not announced Not stated Not announced

The owner discount applies to qualifying digital owners on the same store and account. Physical copies of the original cannot be verified for that offer, and discounts cannot be combined. The qualifying maximum was about half off, or approximately $12.50 before tax, during the stated window.

The original remained listed on Steam at $14.99 during launch week. Buying that older version solely to obtain an owner discount could therefore cost more than taking the 20% new-buyer remaster offer during the same period.

Is there a physical edition?

Yes, but not at digital launch. Telltale and PM Studios announced physical editions for Q1 2027 (early 2027), with platform details and boxed pricing to be announced later. PM Studios described the release as an effort to let players own and preserve a physical copy, not as a separate content edition. No physical version was available day and date with the 29 October 2026 digital launch.

How does the remaster differ from the original game?

Both versions tell the same five-episode story, but they differ in how the season is delivered and presented.

Comparison point Original 2013–14 release Remastered release
Story Five episodes: Faith through Cry Wolf The same five episodes, plus restored deleted scenes outside the campaign
Purchase model Episodic; season-pass or individual-episode structures varied by platform One $24.99 digital product containing the full season
Presentation Original models, lighting, audio and interface Rebuilt models, relit scenes, remastered audio, modern UI and optional Noir Mode
Choice continuity No confirmed save transfer into the remaster Defining choices can carry forward to The Wolf Among Us 2 through a Telltale Account
Platforms Older PC, console, handheld and mobile releases, with availability varying by store Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox One/Series compatibility at launch; Switch later

IGN’s PC review, posted 27 October 2026, rated the remaster 8/10 and characterized it as a fresh presentation with substantial behind-the-scenes material, while still criticizing stiff animations. GamingBolt’s PS5 review called it the definitive entry point for newcomers and treated the extras as a celebration rather than a new adventure.

Do I need to read the Fables comics first?

No. The game is designed to stand on its own. It is a licensed, non-canon prequel set roughly 20 years before the comics, with Bigby Wolf serving as sheriff of Fabletown.

The source material is Bill Willingham’s Fables, launched in 2002 with artist Lan Medina. If you want the comic background, Fables Vol. 1: Legends in Exile introduces Fabletown and Bigby, but reading it is optional and does not unlock any remaster content. A public dispute involving the comics’ creator and DC in 2023 does not block this licensed game release.

What should you buy if you only want the complete story?

Choose the remaster if you want the least complicated route: one current product, all five episodes, restored deleted scenes and the presentation upgrades. The old version remains relevant mainly for players who specifically want its original build, older platforms or the lower Steam list price, while the remaster is the straightforward choice for a first playthrough.

There is no episode 6, no separate story expansion you must track down, and no remaster season pass to purchase at launch. Future store offerings could change, but none were announced in Telltale’s 29 October 2026 launch materials.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play the episodes in any order?

The remaster presents the season in its intended sequence, beginning with Faith. The deleted scenes are optional special features and can be viewed separately from the campaign rather than used to reorder the main story.

Does Noir Mode change achievements or choices?

No story or decision rules are attached to Noir Mode. It is a visual filter that turns the presentation black and white and can be toggled during play, so it does not create a separate narrative route.

Will the Switch version launch with different content?

There is no announced content difference. Switch was delayed beyond the 29 October 2026 digital launch, and Telltale had not supplied a street date or Switch discount when the other versions released.

Are the interviews part of the downloadable install?

They are listed as included remaster features rather than a separately sold video pack. The announced collection contains more than an hour of developer and cast interviews alongside the gallery, commentary and restored scenes.
