Nintendo has announced that a Splatoon 3 Direct will air on August 10. The stream will begin at 9 AM (EST) and will feature 30 minutes of updates about the upcoming title, scheduled to release on September 9.
The previous title, Splatoon 2, was released in July 2017. The title sold more than twice as many copies as the original Splatoon, making it one of the best-selling Switch titles. Splatoon 3 was first announced in February 2021.

The contents of the Direct are unclear, though many fans have expressed frustration with the lack of information released about the game so far. It’s likely that the stream will show off new gameplay footage and reveal details about the game’s Campaign, along with more about the PvP and PvE modes.
The third entry in the series will bring new weapons and items, while the popular cooperative mode Salmon Run will be making a return. It will, however, introduce new enemy types.
The latest trailer for the game was released in April and highlighted the game’s Turf War battles, along with the new Eeltail Alley stage and the new Stringer Weapon. Be sure to watch below.
For those unfamiliar, gameplay in Splatoon is heavily focused on online multiplayer. Players step into the role of Squid Kids and aim to claim their territory on a massive map by painting everything in sight with their representative color. Characters can swim through their ink to quickly get around the map, avoid attack, and plan their next move stealthily.
Splatoon 3 is scheduled to release on September 9, 2022 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. A Splatoon 3 Switch Pro Controller and themed Switch carrying case will both be released on the same date.
