Today, on July 26, 2022, PlayStation shared a sneak peek of the forthcoming PlayStation VR2. The console will include a see-through view, a customizable play area, the choice between VR mode and Cinematic mode, and more.
See-Through View
This feature will allow you to be able to see your surroundings while wearing the headset. If you’ve done VR before, you know that it can be annoying to try to locate your controllers with headset on. Now, with this new feature, you will be able to find them easily. To switch between viewing your surroundings, all you’ll have to do is press the function button on the headset or use the Card in the Control Center.
Broadcast Yourself While Playing
If you’ve ever wanted to film yourself while playing VR, this is your chance. On the PlayStation VR2, you will have the option to do this by connecting a PS5 HD camera to the console. This is the best way to share your reactions to the game you’re playing with fellow players.
Customized Play Area
On the PlayStation VR2, you will be able to scan the room while the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers allow you to “expand and further customize the play area to fit your play style and room environment.” Having your space be set up just the way you like it will further improve your experience with the games. You will even receive a warning if you start to get too close to the boundaries you’ve set up.
VR Mode and Cinematic Mode
If you’re looking for game content in a 360 view, you can take advantage or VR mode:
- 4000 x 2040 HDR video format (2000 x 2040 per eye)

For non-VR and gaming content, you can take advantage of the Cinematic mode for a visually stunning experience:
