Johnathan Sawyer

Johnathan (a.k.a., A Backdated Future) is a review and walkthrough writer based out of Ohio in the United States. He has been writing since 2000, primarily for console-style / Japanese RPGs for GameFAQs.com. He specializes in in-depth, step-by-step guides to ensure that the reader is able to see absolutely everything the game has to offer.

Outside of the writing world, Johnathan works with software maintenance and deployment for a large corporation, but is also a family man, spending his free time with his wife and son. Not much writing is done anymore though, with the majority of his free time spent exploring games he's missed out on, while also playing competetive Rocket League with his son. There's also the matter of the unhealthy obsession with the Fallout series, primarily Fallout 4, so there's a good chance that while reading this, he's going through another playthrough, racking up another 500 hours on to his already ridiculous amount of time dedicated to the game.

Speaking of JRPGs and unhealthy obsessions, he's also spent over 4000 hours in Star Ocean: The Second Story (and Second Evolution) since 1999, and with it being recently remade as Star Ocean: The Second Story R, he's found new life in the RPG and will probably be playing it several times a year going forward as well. (It's practically a perfect game now, if you're curious to try!)

Besides that, Johnathan also considers himself a tech expert and always stays up-to-date with tech news, building PCs whenever he gets the opportunity and always helps out friends and family to make sure they're getting the most out of their tech. He says he's built an amazing PC with top of the line components and that he shouldn't have to upgrade for at least 5 years... but I'm sure we all know that isn't going to happen, is it???
