To get through the Mother of Mothers zone and arrive in Beneath Her Sacred Grounds, you need all three weapons. Without the unique abilities of each weapon, you won’t be able to get through the puzzles in the Mother of Mothers area that leads Beneath Her Sacred Grounds.
On top of that, you need to beat Afilaor, Sentinel of the Emery so that you can then obtain the Passage of Ash ability. Passage of Ash lets you double jump—which is crucial for getting to the aforementioned upgrade room.

Besides the previously mentioned threats, along the way, you’ll have to get by multiple mild jumping puzzles, spike traps, and one large yet basic enemy. However, once you make the journey, you’ll be rewarded with the desired weapon upgrade.
