Backstories of the Among Us Characters

One of the strangest parts about playing Among Us is that the characters feel so familiar to us, yet somehow remain unknown at the same time. Sure, we can customize these characters in every which way with all the cosmetic options and the ability to choose our own names after picking a character. But this still doesn’t tell us anything about the characters themselves.

    About the Among Us Characters

All the Among Us characters are crew members aboard either a spaceship (The Skeld), a skybase (MIRA HQ), an alien planet (Polus), or the Airship. The crewmembers work for MIRA, a company that aims to research, explore, and collect data from outer space. One of the maps you can play on, MIRA HQ, is the official headquarters for this company. However, the headquarters has already been evacuated by the time the gameplay takes place because Imposters have infiltrated and corrupted the crewmembers’ work.

Not much is known about the Imposters, but they can shapeshift into what looks like other crew members. They are enemies of MIRA, and their goal is to kill off crewmembers and take over.

The crew members are looking to aid MIRA’s agenda to gather materials such as samples of wildlife, crystals, or journal entries from other planets (such as Polus). But to do this, the crew members must ascertain who the Imposters are before it’s too late. They must work to save their research and their headquarters before the Imposters take over entirely.

    Potential For Additional Story Content

It’s difficult to feel satisfied with what little information we have available about the Among Us characters. That said, it leaves room for serious potential in terms of future content. The devs at Innersloth have continued to add new content to Among Us since its launch.

The Among Us roadmap, which was posted in June earlier this year, specifies that a fifth map will eventually be added. With a new map comes more background information, so we’re bound to learn more. Additionally, the roadmap includes “new roles and new ways to play,” which is currently open to interpretation. However, it’s quite possible that the inclusion of new roles will lead to more information on the characters.
