Slice of life anime game Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is heading west for the Switch on August 11, 2022. It will be followed shortly after with a PS4 and PC (via Steam) release.

    Wholesome Games

    As revealed on the Wholesome Games Twitter account yesterday, the idyllic adventure title Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is finally making the trip across the ocean to western audiences. Released last year in Japan as a temporary Switch exclusive titled Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsuyasumi, many were sad to find that it wouldn’t be getting a localization. Something must have changed in the past year as western gamers will finally be able to collect bugs and fish with Shin-Chan in the next few days.

    For those unfamiliar with this genre of game, Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is developed by Millennium Kitchen Co., the studio behind the Boku no Natsuyasumi titles. So far in the west, the only game from the company to be localized was Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale on Nintendo 3DS back in 2013. While that title met a solid reception, for whatever reason, Millennium Kitchen has had a tough time getting its other games localized in other regions.

    Let’s Get Physical

    While no news of a physical edition for the west has been revealed, Japanese gamers will be able to buy a physical PS4 edition of the game in the future. Much like its belated western release, Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation will be shedding its Switch exclusivity overseas next week. This new port of the game will have support for English, Japanese, German, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles. It likely will only feature Japanese voice-overs, but that’s fine enough considering the scope of what this title is.
