Gamescom 2022 is weeks away, and the excitement is palpable. The event will be in-person for the first time since 2019, and over 500 companies are scheduled to attend. Understandably, Microsoft is bringing out the big guns to celebrate.
Those able to attend the event in person will be able to try out some upcoming Xbox Game Studios titles, including Pentiment, Age of Empires IV, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Microsoft isn’t neglecting its third-party partners either. A Plague Tale: Requiem, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Lies of P, Gunfire Reborn, and more will be available to play for attendees. Fans have been anxious to hear more about these titles for some time, especially the Bloodborne adjacent title Lies of P from Round 8 Studio and Neowiz Games, which has seen very little information released since late 2021.
We’re back at @gamescom! Here’s what to expect:

Two months from its planned release on October 18, A Plague Tale: Requiem is the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 title A Plague Tale: Innocence. Developed by Asobo Studio, the game take place six months after the events of the first title and will follow siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune as they attempt to flee soldiers of the Inquisition and black plague-ridden rats in the South of France. While Innocence placed a heavy focus on stealth, Requiem promises expanded combat and larger locations to explore.
In May 2021, an official announcement trailer for Lies of P was released, causing the internet to explode in shared baffled excitement. Seemingly a mix between Dark Souls and Pinocchio, the action game will follow the familiar character through a dark and disturbing city on his quest to find Mr. Geppetto and become human.

Gamescom 2022 will be held from August 24 until August 28 in Cologne, Germany. For those unable to attend in person, the majority of events will be livestreamed. The Xbox Booth stream is scheduled to begin at 8 AM (EST) on August 25 and will run until 2 PM (EST). It will be available in ten languages, and a more detailed schedule is expected to be unveiled soon.
