After a surprise announcement last month, Nintendo has provided more details about the upcoming multiplayer title Kirby’s Dream Buffet. The multiplayer game will release next week on August 17 and will be cheaper than your standard Switch title at $14.99.
The news broke during today’s Kirby Music Fest, which was held to celebrate the pink puffball’s 30th anniversary. During the festivities, fans were also thrilled to discover that the Kirby: Right Back At Ya anime series would be getting a remastered Blu-Ray release in the near future. The concert was streamed globally online for no cost and is still available to watch below.

Along with the release date and price for Kirby’s Dream Buffet, plenty of details about the colorful and sugary title were revealed in a new overview trailer. The game will feature three game modes: Race, Minigame, and Battle Royale. The goal of each mode is to eat as many strawberries and other tasty treats as you can, with the plumpest Kirby at the end of each round being named the winner.
Certain foods will give Kirby unique abilities, with donuts, cupcakes, and gummy worms shown in the trailer. Players will be able to compete against three of their friends via local wireless or through online play. The title will also allow you to battle with another player on a single Switch.

Each player will be able to customize their Kirby, choosing their color, outfit, and accessories. As you’d expect, the accessories are all dessert-themed and include a Kirby Car cake.
“Kirby’s Dream Buffet finds a gang of Kirbys rolling through a smorgasbord of food-themed stages in four rounds of frantic multiplayer fun,” the statement from Nintendo reads. The company also stresses that the game “offers accessible gameplay for players of all skill levels, but also presents a healthy challenge for those looking to satiate their craving for friendly competition.”
Kirby’s Dream Buffet will be released worldwide on August 17. It will retail for $14.99 and pre-orders are now open at the Nintendo eShop. The game comes not long after the 3D platformer Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which was released for the Switch in March to critical acclaim.
