Key Takeaway
There are two areas where you can find Munchlax: Deertrack Heights in the Obsidian Fieldlands and Snowfall Hot Spring in the Alabaster Icelands.
You’ll need a bit of luck to catch Munchlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This is due to it rarely spawning, and only in a couple of locations. Thankfully, there are some tricks you can use to increase your odds.

Munchlax’s Location in the Obsidian Fieldlands
The first place you can potentially find a Munchlax is the Obsidian Fieldlands. Specifically, on a cliff in the area called Deertrack Heights. However, on the map, the exact spot looks like it’s precisely in the center of a triangular area between Deertrack Heights, Deertrack Path, and Windswept Run.
By the edge of the cliff, it’s possible for a Munchlax to spawn at any time of day and during any type of weather condition. However, most of the time, Kricketots will spawn here instead.
To reset the spawns as efficiently as possible, catch, defeat, or scare away the two Kricketots (or other Pokémon) that are here. Afterward, head back to the Heights Camp—which is the closest campsite—and rest until a different time of day. This will cause new Pokémon to spawn by the cliff’s edge.
It’s important to sleep until a different time of day because only sleeping for a short while will not progress time. You need time to progress in order for spawning to occur.
It may take a while, but, eventually, a Munchlax will spawn here. When it does, be sure to sneak up on it, as Munchlax are likely to run away if they see you. For similar reasons, you’ll want to immediately catch Munchlax instead of battling it first.
Thankfully, their catch rate is low enough that you can capture it without needing to weaken it first. If you’re worried about messing up this rare opportunity, you can save your game prior to trying to catch a Munchlax after you see that one has spawned.
Munchlax’s Location in the Alabaster Icelands
Much later in the game, you can find another spot where Munchlax can spawn in the Alabaster Icelands. What’s more, the spawning chances of Munchlax here seem to be higher than in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
From the Icepeak Camp near the center of the Alabaster Icelands (the second camp you’ll unlock in this region), head west and a bit south. Go towards the small body of water close by, which is Snowfall Hot Spring.
Most of the time, you’ll find Lickitung, Aipom, and Buneary here—in addition to the occasional Snorlax. That last Pokémon is a good indication you’re in the right place to find a Munchlax. Furthermore, Munchalx can spawn here at any time of day and in any weather condition.
Like before, keep clearing out the Pokémon in this natural hot spring, going back to camp, and resting until another part of the day. Each return visit to the Snowfall Hot Spring grants more chances to find a Munchlax.
Also, like before, you’ll need to be sneaky, as Munchlax are prone to running away. Try to get behind it and hit it from the back with a Poké Ball of some kind for an instant capture.
