There are numerous male and female characters across Skyrim that you can woo into marrying you. But one of the most desired wives of all is Serana, a pure-blood vampire who accompanies you on the Dawnguard questline.

How to Find Serana
You’ll need to begin the Dawnguard DLC if you want to get into contact with Serana. To do this, go to Riften and speak with one of the guards. They will tell you about the reforming of the Dawngaurd. Keep following the quest prompts until you eventually reach Serana. Set her free, and escort her back to Castle Volkihar.
How to Marry Serana
Unfortunately, you cannot marry Serana in the base Skyrim game. This is because the game doesn’t allow you to marry vampires. Luckily, there is a quick fix to this by using a mod. There is a mod titled, “Marriable Serana,” on NexusMods. Simply do the following to get the mod up and running:
- Purchase the Dawnguard expansion if you haven’t already
- After going to the Marriable Serana mod page, click “Manual” next to “Download”
- Unzip the file and add it to your Skyrim folder (this is usually found at
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim) - Move the mod into Skyrim’s data folder
If you’re playing on PS4 or PS5, you can search “Marry Me Serana” from the game’s mod menu and file your mod accordingly. For Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, you can use the “Marriable Serana” mod as is.
Once this is done, you can take the steps to marry Serana just like you would with any other marriable character in Skyrim.
