Godrick the Grafted is one of the main bosses in Elden Ring. He is a shardbearer, meaning he drops a Great Rune upon defeat. The Great Rune isn’t activated when you receive it, however. Here’s how to activate it.

How to Activate Godrick’s Great Rune

To activate Godrick’s Great Rune, you’ll need to travel to the Divine Tower of Limgrave. The path to the tower can be found in Stormveil Castle. The very same legacy dungeon you find Godrick in.

If you opened Stormveil Castle’s main gate from Margit’s boss room, start from the Stormveil Main Gate Site of Grace. Make your way to the area marked on the map below from here.

Be wary of the arrows that will strike your way here, as well as the multiple enemies that are lurking about. There’s also a Lion Guardian in the eastern courtyard. Be careful of this enemy. It is powerful and highly swift.

How to Get to the Divine Tower of Limgrave

If you didn’t open Stormveil Castle’s main gate, read on.

First things first, make the journey easier for yourself by having one Stonesword Key. If you haven’t picked one up by now, you can purchase one from the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold for 4,000 Runes.

Start from the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. Walk through the eastern door to get to the open courtyard with multiple enemies. Turn to the south and you’ll spot an archway that leads back to the indoors of the castle. What you’ll want to run to the right of that door.

There are multiple enemies in this courtyard. You can either deal with them or just run past them. Once you get to the area marked above, you’ll find a staircase that leads to a room below. There are four rats in this room so watch out for that.

At the end of this room is a fog gate. Use a Stonesword Key on the Imp Statue to make your way through. Proceed until you’re back outside. Once you walk past the door, look over to your left and walk forward. You’ll spot a tall opening ahead of you at the end of the courtyard. That’s where you’ll need to go.

There are still a lot of enemies here. Be sure to deal with the ones manning the ballistae first. Once you make it to the opening, proceed until you reach the Limgrave Tower Bridge Site of Grace.

From here, simply keep moving forward. There are a couple of giants here, one of them wields a giant bow. You can simply run past these guys if you don’t feel fighting multiple giants at once. You’ll find a teleporter at the end of this path. Using it will transport you to the foot of the Divine Tower of Limgrave.

Once transported to the other side, simply walk forward and enter the tower. Take the lift up. Once you reach the top, continue forward and you’ll find another Site of Grace. Rest here if you wish. To the right of the Site of Grace is a path that leads to the very top of the tower. You can activate Godrick’s Great Rune there.
