Key Takeaway

Malenia is at the roots of Miquella’s Haligtree. You can get here by finding the two Haligtree Secret Medallions and using them at the Grand Lift of Rold to get to the Consecrated Snowfield.

From here, you can head to Ordina, solve the puzzle, and use the waygate at the back of the town to get transported to Miquella’s Haligtree.

Malenia is one of Elden Ring’s most difficult and notorious bosses. Naturally, you must find your way to her. Getting to Malenia can be grueling and challenging, but it’s nowhere near as tough as the boss fight itself.

    Where You Can Find Malenia

Malenia is located at the root of Miquella’s Haligtree. Before you can get to Malenia, you must first know how to get to the Haligtree itself.

How to Get to Miquella’s Haligtree

There are two items you’ll need to get to Miquella’s Haligtree: both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.

    • Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) – Obtained from Albus. You’ll find him in the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia, disguised as a shimmering pot southeast of the area’s Site of Grace.
    • Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) – Found in the highest tower in Castle Sol, Mountaintops of the Giants. You’ll need to defeat the boss of the castle, Commander Niall, before you can reach the area and obtain the secret medallion.

Once you have both faces of the medallion, head to the Grand Lift of Rold. Once here, you’ll be presented with a new prompt that will say “Hoist Secret Medallion.”

This activates the lift, sending you on the Hidden Path to the Haligtree.

Progress through this catacomb and reach the exit to find yourself in the Consecrated Snowfield. This area has very limited visibility. Simply follow the lights on the ground as you keep traveling north. Keep following the lights, and you’ll eventually find the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace.

Beyond this Site of Grace is a frozen lake. From here, look over to the northwest and you’ll find a town that’s seemingly glowing. Approach it and you’ll arrive at Ordina, Liturgical Town.

Solving The Ordina, Liturgical Town Puzzle

Ordina is a peculiar place, as baffling as it is challenging. To solve the puzzle in the town, head to the central plaza, climb the stairs ahead, head right, then go around the town. You’ll eventually find an imp statue and a platform that will take you to an evergaol.

Once here, you can start solving the puzzle.

What you’ll need to do is to light up four statues that are scattered in Ordina. One of them is on the ground, and three of them are on top of buildings.

Make your way to these candles, light them, and the puzzle is solved.

    It’s not that simple, though.

There are invisible Black Knife Assassins roaming the town. They’ll chase you on the ground if you’re not fast enough. Thankfully, these enemies don’t follow you to the rooftops.

However, you are faced with another set of enemies once you’ve escaped the ground and are traversing the rooftops. There are multiple Albinauric archers here that have shocking accuracy. If you’re within range and within sight, they’ll surely hit you with their barrage of arrows.

You must be quick and careful when navigating this evergaol. Thankfully, once you light one candle up and you happen to die here, that candle will remain lit when you return to the evergaol. You can simply head to the next candle.

    Candle 1

The first candle in Ordina, Liturgical Town.

The first candle is on the central plaza. From the evergaol starting point, head to the alley to your left, then head down the flight of stairs to the right. Once at the bottom, look to your left and you’ll find a kneeling statue. This is where your first candle is.

    Candle 2

The path to the second candle in Ordina.

Run towards north until you reach the end of the town. There’s a ladder here situated behind a building. Climb it, then climb the other ladder waiting for you at the top. Once you emerge at the top, you’ll be right in front of the second candle.

    Candle 3

The path to the third candle in Ordina.

Return to the ground and make your way back to where the first candle is. Take the alley under the archway before the flight of stairs. Continue on from here and you’ll find another ladder at the end of the path. Climb it, then climb the next one to come face-to-face with the third candle.

    Candle 4

The Tarnished facing the tower that contains the fourth candle in Ordina.

Take the ladder down and jump on the roof of the building to the east. Make your way north from here. Be careful of the archers here. You can use sections of the building cover as you make your way to the tower ahead.

Once you’re on the building that leads to the tower, eliminate the archer before climbing up. Once done, climb up and light the fourth and final candle.

Once you’ve completed all these, you’ll exit the evergaol and return to the original Ordina.

Once done, face east and take the long flight of stairs ahead. The seal that used to be here will now be unlocked, revealing a waygate behind it. This waygate will take you to Miquella’s Haligtree.

    Getting to Malenia

From here, you must simply progress through this whole new region as usual. Miquella’s Haligtree functions like a massive legacy dungeon. There are no extra caves, catacombs, or tunnels here. Simply progress through the area in a linear fashion until you reach the roots of the Haligtree.

Malenia will be there waiting for you.
