During today’s Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer stream, fans were treated to an action-packed trailer for Endwalker Patch 6.2 and a release date of August 23. Producer Naoki Yoshida continued with hours of details about the new update.
Players can expect new main scenario quests with the Buried Memory update, along with new sidequests including more of Tataru’s Grand Endeavor and additional Hildibrand adventures. Yoshi-P noted that players will need to clear all The Shadow of Mhach quests in order to continue with Tataru’s Grand Endeavor. New weapon enhancement quests and tribal quests will also be added, with the Omicrons being added in Patch 6.25. Their specific quests will be intended for gathering classes.
The Fell Court of Troia, a new instanced dungeon, will be added as part of the main story. Another trial will be added as well, though Yoshida didn’t offer a name or any information.
Pandaemonium: Abyssos will be the new normal 8-person raid, with the Savage difficulty version coming on August 30. The current Unreal trial will be swapped to the Containment Bay S1T7.

The Japanese trailer for the Buried Memory update features some incredible voice talent, including Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata in Gintama) and Shuichi Ikeda (Char Aznable in the Gundam series).
In a previous Live Letter held earlier this year, Yoshida noted that many Final Fantasy fans have played all games in the main series except for XI and XIV, as these two are MMOs. In an attempt to get those fans to try XIV, the producer has started to make much of the game playable as a solo experience. Continuing with this, Heavensward dungeons will now be playable with a group of NPCs. These dungeons include Snowcloak, The Keeper of the Lake, Sohm Al, The Aery, and The Vault.
While there will be some job changes implemented in the new update, they will be minor.
The second half of today’s stream showed a detailed look at the Island Sanctuary, a new solo area in which players can grow crops and explore at their leisure. This will be added in 6.2, while Variant Dungeons and Criterion Dungeons will be added in 6.25. These types of dungeons have never been seen before in XIV.
Additionally, glamour dresser capacity will be expanded from 400 to 800 slots.
In Patch 7.0, the game will begin a new storyline and will see its first-ever graphical update. For those wanting to watch the Live Letter in its entirety and see the ample amount of new footage shown, check out the video below.
Final Fantasy XIV is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game’s free trial includes the base game, A Realm Reborn, as well as the first major expansion, Heavensward. Players participating in the trial can enjoy the game for as long as they want and are able to reach level 60. Patch 6.2 will be released on August 23.
