As the massively popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV continues to attract millions of players around the globe, Square Enix has released the Starter Guide video series to help newcomers to the game learn the basics.

The past year has seen unprecedented growth for the massively multiplayer title, with legions of new players jumping into the game following the highly-anticipated release of the Endwalker expansion in November 2021. FFXIV currently has over 24 million active players and has become the most profitable Final Fantasy game to date.

With so many new fans jumping into the fray, a few tutorials might be necessary. Along with the base game, A Realm Reborn, the title has seen four massive expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker. Add to that fishing, crafting, cooking, hunts, fashion shows, hundreds of side quests, and the ability to play as any class at a whim, and players can quickly become overwhelmed.

The Starter Guide series consists of seven videos, each featuring helpful tips and tricks to help players get the most out of their adventure. Everything from creating a character to battle mechanics are included, making this a must-see for newbies. Check out the intro below.

The Final Fantasy XIV Starter Guide playlist can be found here, with a breakdown of each episode below:

Series Introduction – Join veteran adventurer Mayra as she guides new player Kaz to the world of Final Fantasy XIV.

Episode 1: The Adventure Begins – Kaz creates his character and takes his first steps in Eorzea. Mayra introduces Kaz to the map and different quest types so he can enjoy the main story without getting lost.

Episode 2: Meet Your FATE – Mayra introduces Kaz to class quests and how he can unlock different classes starting at level 10. Kaz encounters his first FATE, an open-world encounter where everyone nearby can take part.

Episode 3: Hall of the Novice – Kaz learns how to organize his cluttered inventory and discovers the Recommended Gear feature. Mayra takes Kaz to the Hall of the Novice where he gets a crash course on party combat and a new set of gear.

Episode 6: The End of the Beginning – Mayra regales Kaz with all he has learned so far and all he still has to look forward to in the Free Trial…and beyond!

Final Fantasy XIV is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. For those still on the fence, the game’s free trial includes all content from the base game, A Realm Reborn, as well as the first major expansion, Heavensward. Players participating in the trial can enjoy the game with no cap on playtime and are able to reach level 60.
