Following countless leaks, the release date and details for Genshin Impact 3.0 are officially here. Players can expect the update on August 24 and can look forward to the new Sumeru region and Dendro element, along with new events.

Along with the initial release date, the developers have also given concrete dates for the three subsequent patches. Patch 3.1 will be released on September 28, while 3.2 will be added on November 2. Finally, Patch 3.3 will be coming on December 7. These patches are being added a little quicker than usual to make up for a number of unfortunate delays that took place over the summer. The 2.6 update lasted for months following increased lockdowns in Shanghai due to the ongoing pandemic.

The 3.0 update will be adding three new playable characters to the game’s roster. The first phase will begin with the Viridescent Vigil banner, which will feature the 5-star Tighnari and the 4-star Collei. These new characters are both Dendro users, an element being seen in Genshin Impact for the first time. Both banners will be running simultaneously, and following the 3.1 update, Tighnari will be available through the standard Wanderlust Invocation wish.

Phase 2 will see the return of the hugely popular Geo character Zhongli. Phase 3 will see the return of Ganyu and Sangonomiya Kokomi, along with the new 4-star Electro character Dori. A collection of new forgeable weapons themed around the new Sumeru area will be added with the new patch along with two new Artifact sets.

The main storyline to be found in 3.0 is still unknown, though it will largely center on traveling to the Sumeru region. Sumeru is known as a center for education, and fittingly, its residents worship the God of Wisdom, Kusanali.

A number of new events will be coming in the new update, including the Graven Innocence quest, which will see players assisting a toy store in Port Ormos as they develop some new products. Additional events include the Fayz Trials event, the Tablet Analytics event, the Lost Riches event, and the Ley Line Overflow event. Each of these will help players rack up Primogems, rare items, and plenty of other goodies.

The official Twitter account for the game also posted a preview page for the 3.0 update, which you can find below.

Genshin Impact is available to download for free on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices. Last week, it was announced that the title was soon to become the most expensive video game ever produced.
