Proof of Guilt is a side quest in Octopath Traveler 2 that you get after speaking to Meylan, the court guard of Timberain, Leaflands, at night (speaking to him during the day starts the Proof of Innocence quest). The man on trial is accused of theft, but the court lacks the evidence to lock him up.

Where to Find Proof of Guilt

You’re now tasked with finding proof of Nero the defendant’s guilt by locating an item called the Azure Sun Sword. Head south from the court and find the Remorseful Old Man near the railing in front of the Pub. This is the defendant’s father. Use a Path Action such as Osvald’s Scrutinize to glean some information about where the item is hidden.

Next, head to the inn and pick up the hidden item located to the left of it. This is the Azure Sun Sword. Now that the item is in your possession, head back to the court and speak to Meylan at night. Case closed.
