Through a Child’s Eyes is a side quest in Octopath Traveler 2 that’s given to you by the Brooding Girl located next to the Pub in Wellgrove, Leaflands. She doesn’t understand why her mom and stepfather aren’t getting along and is looking for a way to make things better.

Bring Everyone Together
You’ll need to recruit both the girl’s mother and stepfather at the same time, so add two characters to your party that have the appropriate Path Action, such as Ochette and Partitio.
The Girl’s Mother is standing in front of the Inn. Talk to her to learn about her issues with the stepfather, and then use a Path Action to recruit her.
Next, head north and you’ll find the Girl’s Stepfather standing in front of the Dancer’s Guild. Speak with him and then use a Path Action to recruit him.
With both of them in your party, head back and speak with the Brooding Girl.
