Despite not yet appearing in Genshin Impact, the game’s upcoming playable character Tighnari has already become a community favorite. Today, fans were treated to a Tighnari-centric teaser trailer and some new information about the handsome Dendro user.
Tighnari is one of three new characters arriving with the 3.0 update along with fellow Dendro user Collei and Electro user Dori. The character’s name comes from Al-Tighnari, an ancient Arab scientist known for his writings on agriculture. Fittingly, Tighnari is a researcher with an interest in botony, and as the trailer below shows, he serves as a Watcher in Avidya Forest.
Tighnari will be the first five-star Dendro character in the game. The new region, Sumeru, is based on Southwest Asia, and it seems that players will be learning a lot from this new bow user.
While his abilities haven’t yet been confirmed, datamined information has hinted at Tighnari specializing in attacking multiple monsters at once, while also being useful for distracting the bad guys. His normal attack, Khanda Barrier-Buster, will hit enemies up to four times, and can be charged with Dendro energy to cause more damage. His elemental skill, Vijnana-Phala Mine, will see Tighnari throwing a Vijnana Stormhard that deals AoE Dendro damage and creates an illusion to taunt mobs and draw their attention.
As for the character’s passive talents, Tighnari’s Encyclopedia Knowledge skill will display the locations of resources unique to Sumeru on the game’s minimap.
Players who manage to snag Tighnari during the first banner run should attempt to push him to constellation level two as quickly as possible, as this grants an impressive Dendro damage buff. Even if you aren’t lucky enough to add him to your party at first, fear not–Tighnari will be added to the Standard Banner once 3.0 comes to a close.
Along with new characters and a new region to explore, the massive 3.0 update will bring with it a number of new events.
Genshin Impact is available to play for free on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices. The 3.0 update is due to release on August 24. Players can also expect Patch 3.1 on September 28, Patch 3.2 on November 2, and Patch 3.3 on December 7.
