Key Takeaway
Your best bet for finding Space-Time Distortions is to spend a lot of time in one of the five major regions of the game. The longer you are in a region, the more likely Space-Time Distortions are to spawn. You can increase the odds of this by not passing time and not having any menus open.
To find certain Pokémon and items in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll need to explore Space-Time Distortions, a mechanic based on time. You can spawn Space-Time Distortions in any major region of the game.

Tips for Spawning Space-Time Distortions
Space-Time Distortions start occurring after you defeat the Noble Kleavor in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Clear the main mission in which this happens before trying to hunt down one of these tears in reality.
The more time you spend in a region, the more likely Space-Time Distortions are to spawn. Staying in a region for 40 minutes is enough time for at least one Space-Time Distortion to appear.
However, this amount of time needs to be continuous. Resting at a campsite and using fast travel will decrease the chances of a Space-Time Distortion showing up. Also, having a menu open pauses time, which also lowers the odds. Going back to Jubilife Village will reset the spawning timer, so avoid doing that.
Towards the end of the game, before the main mission where you need to battle Dialga and Palkia, Space-Time Distortions occur more frequently. That’s the point in the game, between missions 13 and 18, when it would be best to farm resources and catch most Pokémon that only appear in Space-Time Distortions.
Due to the nature of how Space-Time Distortions spawn, you can use an AFK method to find them. Leave Pokémon Legends: Arceus running on your Nintendo Switch and come back every five to ten minutes to see if one has spawned. Be sure to not have a menu open, as this pauses the game and doesn’t let time progress.
Actions That Delay Spawning
Here’s a list of all the actions that will pause time or will delay Space-Time Distortions from spawning:
- Resting at camp
- Entering a cave
- Entering a building
- Returning to Jubilife Village
- Opening a menu
- Talking to an NPC
- Battling wild Pokémon
- Battling trainers
Some weather conditions can also prevent Space-Time Distortions from appearing. Here are the three weather conditions that do so:
- Intense Sun
- Snowstorms
- Thunderstorms
Distortion Spawning Chances Based on Time Passed
Time Passed | Chance of Spawning |
---|---|
5 minutes | 10% (20% if after main mission 13 and before main mission 18) |
10 minutes | 30% |
15 minutes | 50% |
25 minutes | 75% |
40 minutes | 100% |
