    How to Unlock the Greenhouse

When you first start exploring your farm in Stardew Valley, you’ll come across some old ruins. Sadly, this is all that remains of the greenhouse. At first glance, it might seem like a ton of effort will be needed to get it back in working order, but it’s less time-consuming than you may expect.

To unlock the greenhouse, you have two options.

    • If you’re renovating the Community Center, you’ll need to complete all of the bundles in the Pantry by giving all applicable items to the Junimos. After this is done, the greenhouse will be available the following day.
    • If you replaced the Community Center with a Joja Warehouse, you’ll pay Joja and Morris 35,000g to renovate the greenhouse. This option can be selected from the Joja Community Development form.

If you’ve chosen the first option, see below for the full list of crops and products you’ll need to donate to the Junimos. There are six individual bundles you’ll need to complete.

    Why is the Greenhouse Helpful?

The greenhouse will take up a 7×6 space on your farm. Inside, you’ll find a farmable 10×12 plot of land to use however you see fit.

Inside the greenhouse, crops from any season can grow side by side. Grow spring crops in winter or fall crops in summer! Only two things won’t work inside of a greenhouse: bee hives won’t produce honey and Giant Crops simply won’t fit.

Fruit trees can be planted anywhere inside the greenhouse, even along the edges. Placing decorations, including paths, might stunt their growth, however. You’ll also need to space your trees at least two spaces apart. Make sure each fruit tree has a 3×3 plot.

Remember, rain won’t water anything planted inside of the greenhouse, so be sure to keep an eye on your plants. Being protected from the elements also means that you won’t need to use scarecrows or worry about random lightning strikes either.

Crops that regrow won’t disappear at the end of a season, meaning that planting things like strawberries and cranberries can be especially profitable.

    How to Move the Greenhouse

To move your greenhouse, chat with Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop. As long as the greenhouse is fully built, she’ll be able to move it to any location of your choosing.

When moving your greenhouse, don’t worry! Doing so won’t affect any of the crops growing inside.

    The Best Greenhouse Layout

Stardew Valley players have spent years figuring out the best possible greenhouse layouts to maximize output. Placing automated sprinklers inside the greenhouse will ensure that your crops stay watered, and placing them in the right spot can make a big difference.

If you want to plant as many fruit trees as possible without neglecting crop space, the following layout is an excellent choice. The green spaces represent fruit trees while the purple spaces represent iridium sprinklers.

This will allow you to plant 18 fruit trees and 116 plants. However, remember to plant your fruit trees first–they will only grow if the adjacent spaces are empty. After they are fully grown 28 days later, feel free to plant anything else you like.

By adding a pressure nozzle to an iridium sprinkler, it’s possible to have room for 119 plants, as only one sprinkler needs to take up a plant spot.

Iridium sprinklers with pressure nozzle attachments can make a greenhouse more productive in Stardew Valley.

If you don’t have iridium sprinklers, you can still plant 108 plants by using 16 quality sprinklers instead.

One way to maximize soil space is to use Deluxe Retaining Soil, which can be used on a crop at any time in its growth cycle. Using this will ensure that the crop will stay watered overnight. Deluxe Retaining Soil only needs to be crafted one time.
