Key Takeaway

To get the Vex Mythoclast fusion rifle, you need to defeat Atheon, Time’s Conflux in the Vault of Glass raid. However, to get the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst, you need to stand on five different plates in the Vault of Glass raid and shoot all of the Oracles that spawn in sequence. This is much easier to do with a full fireteam, so call in some friends to make obtaining the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst less tedious.

In Destiny 2, you can enhance your Vex Mythoclast with the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst. This is easier said than done, as getting the Catalyst requires you to stand on plates scattered throughout the Vault of Glass raid and destroy Oracles.

How to Get the Vex Mythoclast Fusion Rifle

A player fighting the boss Atheon, Time Conflux at the climax of the Vault of Glass raid.

Before you begin seeking out the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst, you’ll first need the Vex Mythoclast itself. The only way to get it is to defeat Atheon, Time’s Conflux at the end of the Vault of Glass raid. But, the Vex Mythoclast isn’t a guaranteed drop. You may need to beat this raid a few times to obtain this mighty fusion rifle.

    Vault of Glass Plate #1

    A plate in a cave.

The first plate is found near the beginning of the Vault of Glass raid. The specific area is called the Walking Ruins. From the starting point, head to the right and enter a cave. Within, there is the first plate that you need to stand on to spawn the Oracles of white light.

To activate this—and all other—plates, you or someone on your fireteam needs to equip a Vex Mythoclast before standing on the mysterious circle. Once that happens, white balls of light (Oracles) will blink in and out of existence somewhat near to the plate. There are three Oracles to shoot in the Walking Ruins.

Since there is also a unique sound that plays whenever an Oracle appears, you can find each one by homing in on these spawn sounds. After you pinpoint the location of each Oracle, set up your fireteam so that you and your friends can shoot them all in order.

Once in position, get someone with a Vex Mythoclast equipped to stand on this first plate and have the other fireteam members destroy the Oracles as they spawn in the order in which they appear.

    Vault of Glass Plate #2

The second plate in the Vault of Glass raid located in Templar's Well.

To find the second plate, head deeper into the Vault of Glass raid. When you reach the Templar’s Well area, take the lower path. This route requires you to do some platforming to reach the section housing the second plate.

Like with the first plate, you need someone with a Vex Mythoclast to stand on the plate to spawn the Oracles. However, there are four Oracles this time instead of three. Position your fireteam around where the Oracles spawn so that you and your allies can destroy them all in sequence.

    Vault of Glass Plate #3

The third plate in the Vault of Glass raid located near the entrance to the Gorgon's Labyrinth.

Shortly after your encounter with the Templar in the Vault of Glass raid, you can find the third plate. Head down into the Gorgon’s Labyrinth and look for the large circular door with a glowing light in the center. Pass under this large, open door to find the third plate.

The Oracles for this one are scattered nearby. This time, there are five which you need to destroy. Once more, position your allies in areas where the Oracles spawn so that you all can take them out in sequence.

    Vault of Glass Plate #4

The fourth plate in the Vault of Glass raid located on a ledge.

Near the Gorgon’s Labyrinth, look towards the chasm. Keep to the right and you’ll find platforms leading down to a ledge harboring the fourth plate. Watch your footing, as a misstep here will cause you to fall to your death.

The jagged terrain will make spotting and destroying the Oracles a bit trickier than for the previous plates. Look around thoroughly for the six Oracles that spawn here. As such, it’s advised to get up to a high point nearby to locate the Oracles more easily.

    Vault of Glass Plate #5

The fifth plate located in a chasm somewhat close to the fourth plate and by a Vex portal.

In the same chasm where you found the fourth plate, head a bit deeper. Near an inactive Vex Portal, the fifth plate is found on a pillar nearby.

Thankfully, all of the Oracles will be pretty easy to see during this plate’s activation, as the area is very open. Although, there will be seven Oracles this time—the most out of all plate activations. Line up your shots and blast away the Oracles one final time to complete this requirement to get the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst.

How to Collect the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst

Close up of the Vex Portal in the Vault of Glass raid as a player gets the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst.

Once you’ve activated all five plates and destroyed all of the Oracles, the Vex Portal in the chasm by the fifth plate will light up. Walk into the blue light of this portal to get the Vex Mythoclast Catalyst.

How to Upgrade the Vex Mythoclast With the Catalyst

To unlock the Catalyst upgrade for the Vex Mythoclast, you need to first defeat 700 enemies with this gun. Thanks to this weapon’s high fire rate, you should be able to reach this kill count relatively quickly.

What Upgrading the Vex Mythoclast Does

Firstly, upgrading the Vex Mythoclast with its Catalyst will Masterworks it. This increases its stats and causes enemies killed with it to drop Orbs of Power. However, to get Orbs of Power to drop, you need to use your Masterworks weapon to get multi-kills.

Upgrading the Vex Mythoclast with its Catalyst will also give it the Calculated Balance trait. This trait increases the stability of the gun depending on how many stacks of Overcharge you possess.
