There are many different types of power armor you can get in Fallout 4—each providing its own unique set of stats to aid you in your journey. Here’s how you can get each one of them.

Table Of Contents

    Empty Power Armor Frame

A power armor frame standing in a power armor station.

You won’t be very well protected while wearing this kind of power armor. It is essentially just the skeleton of a suit with no limbs, torso, or head. If you pick this kind of armor up, make sure you put some pieces of armor on it before taking it into combat.

If you want an Empty Power Armor Frame, you can get one at some vendors as well as possibly out in the world as a random spawn. You should talk to one of these vendors to get an Empty Power Armor Frame:

    • Rowdy at Atom Cats Garage
    • Arturo Rodriguez at Diamond City’s Commonwealth Weaponry
    • KL-E-0 at Goodneighbor’s Kill or Be Killed
    • Proctor Teagan on the Prydwen (you can order one from him)

    Raider Power Armor

The player standing in rusty and makeshift power armor looted from bandits.

While you explore the wastelands, you are bound to come across high-ranking bandits wearing this kind of power armor. Raider Power Armor has the worst stats out of all kinds of power armor but is usually the first kind available. A full set of Raider Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 500
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 250
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 350

If you are looking for some early-game armor, you can find Raider Power Armor in the following locations (and more):

    • A full set can be found at the Skylanes Flight 1665 location in the Glowing Sea
    • The raider leader named Boomer wears a full set at Outpost Zimonja and can be defeated for the suit
    • You can find a full set in the wreck of the USS Riptide

    T-45 Power Armor

The player looking at themselves in third person view while they stand in white and dark grey t-45 power armor.

If you have done some of the early Minuteman quests, you will likely have found a suit of T-45 Power Armor. It is a very old model, as it was one of the first kinds mass-produced for the military. As such, you’ll notice its significant amount of rust. Thankfully, you can paint over this at a power armor station. A full set of T-45 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 500
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 310
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 450

Besides you doing the aforementioned Minuteman faction quest, you can also find T-45 Power Armor at the following locations:

    • Rowdy at Atom Cats Garage sells pieces of T-45 Power Armor
    • If you head to the Concord region, you can find a full suit of T-45 Power Armor on the roof of the Museum of Freedom next to a broken Vertibird aircraft
    • A Gunner bandit leader will spawn (and respawn) while wearing a full suit of T-45 Power Armor at Hub City Auto Wreckers

    T-51 Power Armor

The npc, Clint, wearing t-51 power armor and a cowboy hat while holding a gun.

This is another model that existed before the nuclear war that devastated the world. T-51 Power Armor is similar to the T-45 variant but stronger. A full set of T-51 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 740
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 490
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 720

To get the T-51 Power Armor, you should check the following locations:

    • Rowdy at Atom Cats Garage sells pieces of T-51 Power Armor
    • You can find a full set at the overpass by the Quincy Ruins owned by Gunner leader named Clint
    • If you explore around the Quincy Police Station, you can find a Gunner member named Tessa wearing an incomplete suit of T-51 Power Armor

    T-60 Power Armor

The player wearing t-60 power armor next to the brotherhood of steel on the Prydwen.

The T-60 Power Armor is the model that replaced the T-51 as the new top-of-the-line mechanical combat suit. It was designed and mass-produced shortly before the nuclear war that ravaged the world. A full set of T-60 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 980
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 645
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 990

To acquire a suit of T-60 Power Armor, check out the following locations:

    • Rowdy at Atom Cats Garage sells pieces of T-60 Power Armor
    • You can find 4 full suits of T-60 Power Armor on the Prydwen, however, only members of the Brotherhood of Steel can take one without stealing
    • Full suits of T-60 Power Armor can be looted from dead Brotherhood of Steel soldiers who wear them

    X-01 Power Armor

A rusty but powerfully built power armor standing in the road.

This model was created just before the bombs of the great nuclear war were dropped. However, it was never able to leave the testing phase as the intensity of the conflict increased. A full set of X-01 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 1220
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 790
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 1260

If you want the X-01 Power Armor, you should search the following locations:

    • You can find a full suit of X-01 Power Armor on a flatbed truck a bit west of Dry Rock Gulch
    • If you bypass a security door in the Fort Hagen hangar, you can find a full suit of X-01 Power Armor
    • Another place you can find a full suit of X-01 Power Armor is on top of the 35 Court building in Boston’s Financial District

    X-02 Power Armor

A unique and sinister black power armor seen in third person view.

The X-02 Power Armor is a unique variant and only a single full suit exists naturally in-game. It was designed by the Enclave and was modeled after the X-01 Power Armor variant–though meant to surpass it. A full set of X-02 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 1220
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 840
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 1320

The only way you can obtain the X-02 Power Armor is to perform the quest “Speak of the Devil,” which can be started at Wattz Consumer Electronics. You will eventually have to pass through Mass Pike Tunnel during this quest, during which you can open a safe in this location to find the armor. It should be mentioned that the X-02 Power Armor is only available with the Creation Club DLC.

    Hellfire Power Armor

A unique power armor with round yellow eye holes in power armor station.

If you travel to Listening Post Bravo while having the Creation Club DLC installed, you will encounter a hostile person wearing unique power armor terrorizing the town. They are wearing the Hellfire Power Armor and will try to take out anyone who comes close. A full set of Hellfire Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 620
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 550
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 585

If you want this unique metal suit, you’re going to have to defeat the enemy wearing it and take it from them. The one wearing it is a member of The Forged, a group of bandits.

    CC-00 Power Armor

Power armor that looks like a space suit.

This suit of power armor was created before the great nuclear war and was specifically designed to be in a live-action version of the popular pre-war television show known as “Captain Cosmos”. A full set of CC-00 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 1080
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 650
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 1150

This is another unique set of power armor that can only be accessed through the Creation Club DLC. Going to Hub 360, you can find a full suit of CC-00 Power Armor in a room next to the film set. This room is located above some scaffolding nearby.

    Horse Power Armor

An odd-looking yellow power armor in a power armor station.

As this model is more of a joke set, you may dismiss it if you stumble across it during your adventures. However, the Horse Power Armor is a unique and powerful variant of power armor that was created by a raider named Scabby in the Creation Club DLC. A full set of CC-00 Power Armor has the following base stats:

    • Physical Damage Resistance – 1220
    • Energy Damage Resistance – 790
    • Radiation Damage Resistance – 1050
    • Item HP (Durability) – 1260

The only place you can find the Horse Power Armor is in the Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ basement.

With so many types of power armor to choose from, you will have plenty of gear to wear when you explore The Commonwealth. If you really want to, you can collect them all and put them in a nice trophy room to remember your grand adventures and hard-won battles.
