Opening Eye Chests
First, you need to cast the Disillusionment Charm on yourself. If you don’t, Eye Chests will spot you and will lock themselves. Once an Eye Chest locks itself, it’s impossible to open them.
With that said, casting the Disillusionment Charm while in sight of an Eye Chest won’t work. You need to get out of sight and then cast the charm. Following this, approach the Eye Chest and open it to loot its contents.

How to Get the Disillusionment Charm
To learn the Disillusionment Charm, you need to do the main quest called “Secrets of the Restricted Section.” During the course of this quest, one of your fellow Hogwarts students will teach it to you. This is also the perfect place to practice using it, as there are multiple enemies you need to stay hidden from as well as an Eye Chest nearby.
To get this quest, you need to be at level 3 or higher and need to know the Incendio Spell. While the first part of that is easy to do, learning the Incendio Spell requires you to complete an early main quest. Keep doing main quests until you get the Incendio Spell. Afterward, you can hunt down Eye Chests to your heart’s (and wallet’s) content.
