As mentioned above, Mortal Shell’s length is nowhere near that of a Dark Souls title. The former title gathers very heavy inspiration from the Souls series, so it almost feels like a mini Dark Souls, in a way.

That remark is not a bad thing either. Fans of Dark Souls will surely love Mortal Shell, as well. If you have about 10 to 12 hours to spare, you can experience Mortal Shell in its entirety.

It doesn’t take too long to beat Mortal Shell, but players can extend their playtime if they opt for a completionist’s approach.

Aside from just breezing through the main story, there are other things you can do in Mortal Shell as well, such as find where the other shells are, collect all the weapons, and fully upgrade them.

If you decide to go down this route to obtain 100% completion, it should take you no less than 20 hours to complete the game.

The Virtuous Cycle is the first DLC that was made available for Mortal Shell. Along with this DLC comes a new game mode of the same name. The Virtuous Cycle mode essentially transforms the entire game into a rogue-like title. Although the places and setting remain the same, the enemy placements and variety are randomized this time around.

Completing the Virtuous Cycle takes about the same time as the main game, as long as you’re able to adjust to the randomized nature of the game mode.

Completing this quest only takes about 2 to 3 hours.

With all of that said, if you were to play Mortal Shell to its completion, then play the Virtuous Cycle, and finish the mini-quest that comes with Rotten Autumn, it should take about 40 hours for you to experience everything the game currently has to offer.
