Octopath Traveler 2: How to Cross the Sea

One of the new additions added to this game from the first Octopath Traveler is the ability to travel by sea. To reach some of the new characters, you must find ports and pay a fee to travel across the sea to new lands.

Where to Find Ports

There are four ports total that you can use to travel the sea in Octopath Traveler 2. These ports can be found in the following locations:

• Beasting Bay (connects to New Delsta Harbor and Canalbrine)
• Canalbrine (connects to Beasting Bay)
• Crackridge Harbor (connects to New Delsta Harbor)
• New Delsta Harbor (connects to Crackridge Harbor and Beasting Bay)

How to Cross the Sea When Starting With Throné

Throné’s first chapter ends in or near New Delsta. After completing her Chapter One, you can cross the sea to get other characters in different parts of the world.

How to Get From New Delsta to Canalbrine (Castti Starting Location)

1. To get to Canalbrine from New Delsta, you’ll first need to travel to the New Delsta Harbor. To get here, you’ll want to first head east out of New Delsta into the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. From here, head north towards the Winterlands, into the New Delsta Flats. From here, you can head directly west towards the New Delsta Harbor. When you reach the harbor, choose to travel to Crackridge Harbor. You must pay 2,500 leaves to complete this journey.
2. Sadly, you aren’t able to travel directly to the Canalbrine port from New Delsta, so you have a bit of a journey to reach Castti’s starting location. Head west into the Eastern Cropdale Trail. Next, you’ll want to go south to the Southern Cropdale Trail. Follow this east until you get near Oresrush. Bypass Oresrush into the Southern Orserush Wilds. From here, head south into the Northern Ryu Sands. Finally, from here, you can keep heading directly west all the way until you reach Canalbrine, where you can find Castti.

How to Get From New Delsta to Oresrush (Partitio Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Throné’s first section above to sail to Crackridge Harbor from New Delsta.
2. From Crackridge Harbor, you can reach Oresrush by heading south. Unfortunately, you cannot go straight south, so you’ll have to first head west to the Eastern Cropdale Trail. From here, you can go south into the Southern Cropdale Trail. Finally, head east until you reach Oresrush.

How to Get From New Delsta to Cropdale (Agnea Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Throné’s first section above to sail to Crackridge Harbor from New Delsta.
2. Cropdale is extremely easy to find from Crackridge Harbor. Simply follow the path west, and you will reach Agnea’s starting lcoation.

How to Get From New Delsta to Ryu (Hikari Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Throné’s first section above to sail to Crackride Harbor from New Delsta.
2. To get to Ryu, you’ll need to head west from Crackridge Harbor into the Eastern Cropdale Trail. Next, go south into the Southern Cropdale Trail. Once here, head west to Oresrush, but bypass it and head into the Southern Oresrush Wilds. Finally, from here you can go straight south until you reach Ryu, where you can find Hikari.

How to Get From New Delsta to Beasting Village (Ochette Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Throné’s first section above to sail to New Delsta Harbor. But this time, do not choose to go to Crackridge Harbor. Instead, opt to travel to Toto’haha Beasting Bay. This trip will cost you 1,500 leaves.
2. When you land, head directly south, and you’ll find Ochette in Beasting Village.

How to Cross the Sea When Starting With Temenos

Temenos’ first chapter ends in or near Flamechurch. After completing his Chapter One, you can cross the sea to get other characters in different parts of the world.

How to Get From Flamechurch to Canalbrine (Castti Starting Location)

1. To reach Canalbrine from Flamechurch, you’ll first need to get to the New Delsta Harbor. To reach the New Delsta Harbor from Flamechurch, head east out of Flamechurch onto the Eastern Flamechurch Pass. From here, go south to the Western Clockbank Highroad. Next, you’ll be heading west to the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. From here, head far north until you get to New Delsta Flats. Finally, you’ll head west again from here and reach the harbor. Once you get to the harbor, choose to travel to Crackridge Harbor, which will cost you 2,500 leaves.
2. Once you’re at Crackridge Harbor, you’re on the right continent to reach Canalbrine. Sadly, you can’t travel directly to the port in Canalbrine, so you’ll have a bit of a journey to get there. First, head west into the Eastern Cropdale Trail. From here, go south into the Southern Cropdale Trail. Next, you will want to head east towards Oresrush. However you’ll want to bypass Oresrush and head into the Southern Oresrush Wilds. From here, you can head south into the Northern Ryu Sands. Lastly, just keep heading straight east all the way until you reach Canalbrine.

How to Get From Flamechurch to Oresrush (Partitio Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Temenos’ first section above to sail to Crackridge Harbor.
2. Once here, you’ll need to make a bit of a loop to reach Oresrush. Head west from Crackridge Harbor, south at the Eastern Cropdale Trail, and then east again at the Southern Cropdale trail. This will lead you to Oresrush.

How to Get From Flamechurch to Cropdale (Agnea Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Temenos’ first section above to sail to Crackridge Harbor.
2. From Crackridge Harbor, head straight west, and you will find Cropdale, Agnea’s starting lcoation.

How to Get From Flamechurch to Ryu (Hikari Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Temenos’ first section above to sail to Crackridge Harbor.
2. From Crackridge Harbor, follow the same instructions to get to Oresrush, but instead of going into the town, head straight south to Ryu instead.

How to Get From Flamechurch to Beasting Village (Ochette Starting Location)

1. Complete step one from Temenos’ first section above, but don’t choose to travel to Crackridge Harbor when you reach the New Delsta Harbor. Instead, select to travel to Toto’haha Beasting Bay. This trip will cost you 1,500 leaves.
2. Once you land, head directly south to Beasting Village. This is where you will find Ochette for the first time.

How to Get From Cape Cold to Canalbrine (Castti Starting Location)

1. To travel from Cape Cold to Canalbrine, you’ll need to first get to the New Delsta Harbor. From Cape Cold, head south into the Southern Cape Cold Snows. From here, you’ll head south again, this time to the New Delsta Flats. From here, keep heading west, and you’ll reach the New Delsta Harbor. Once you get here, you can pay 2,500 leaves to travel to Crackridge Harbor.
2. Once you’ve reached Crackridge Harbor, you’ll have a long journey to get to Canalbrine, as you cannot travel directly from the New Delsta Harbor to the harbor in Canalbrine. How to Get From Canalbrine to New Delsta (Throné Starting Location)

1. To get from Canalbrine to New Delsta, you’ll need to travel all the way to Crackridge Harbor, as Canalbrine’s Harbor unfortunately doesn’t connect with the New Delsta Harbor. To get to Crackridge Harbor, head west out of Canalbrine into Western Canalbrine Coast. From here, head west again to the Canalbrine Bridge. Head west one more time into the Northern Ryu Sands. From here, you can start heading north, into the Southern Oresrush Wilds. You’ll then need to head west yet again into the Southern Cropdale Trail. Go north until you reach the Eastern Cropdale Trail. Once here, you can head west, directly to Crackridge Harbor. Once you’ve reach Crackridge Harbor, you can choose to travel to the New Delsta Harbor for 2,500 leaves.
2. From the New Delsta Harbor, head east into the New Delsta Flats. From here, head south to the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. Then, you can head directly west into New Delsta to find Throné.

How to Get From Canalbrine to Flamechurch (Temenos Starting Location)

1. Complete the first step from Castti’s section above to sail to the New Delsta Harbor.
2. From the new Delsta Harbor, head east into the New Delsta Flats. From here, you’ll head south into the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. Next, you will turn east again into the Western Clockbank Highroad. After this, head north into the Eastern Flamechurch Pass. Lastly, go west, and you’ll find Flamechurch, which is where Temenos is located.

How to Get From Cropdale to New Delsta (Throné Starting Location)

1. To get to New Delsta from Cropdale, you’ll need to find Crackridge Harbor. To get to Crackridge Harbor, exist Cropdale to the east, into the Eastern Cropdale Trail. Simply keep heading east, and you’ll reach Crackridge Harbor. Pay the 2,500 leaves to travel to the New Delsta Harbor.
2. Once you’ve reached the New Delsta Harbor, you should exit east into the New Delsta Flats. From here, head south into the Eastern New Delsta Highroad. Take this to the west, and you’ll reach New Delsta, where Throné is waiting.

2. Once you’ve landed, head west into the Western Canalbrine Coast. Continue west through Canalbrine bridge, all the way through the Northern Ryu Sands. From here, you can head straight north, and you will reach Oresrush.

How to Get From Beasting Village to Cropdale (Agnea Starting Location)

1. Complete step one of Ochette’s first section above, but choose to sail to Canalbrine.
2. When you arrive, head west into the Western Canalbrine Coast. Keep heading west from here all the way until you’re in the Northern Ryu Sands. From here, head north into the Southern Oresrush Wilds. Pass by Oresrush and continue west into the Southern Cropdale Trail. Head north into the Eastern Cropdale trail, and then go west to Cropdale.

How to Get From Beasting Village to Ryu (Hikari Starting Location)

1. Complete step one of Ochette’s first section above, but choose to sail to Canalbrine.
2. Once there, head west into the Western Canalbrine Coast. Keep heading west all the way until you’re in the Northern Ryu Sands. From here, you can head south, and you’ll reach Ryu, where you can find Hikari.

How to Get Your Own Ship

To get your own ship, you’ll need to have Partitio in your party. You’ll also need to have completed various side quests for Partitio, until you have unlocked “The Scent of Commerce” side quest. Head to Toto’haha, the island where you first recruit Ochette. Once you’ve reached the island, head east until you get to Tropu’hopu. By the docks, you’ll trigger a cutscene for Partitio’s side quest. Afterward, you can find Terry, a person who owns a ship but refuses to sell it for anything less than 100,000 leaves. Once you’ve collected enough leaves, you can purchase this ship from Terry.

Considering how expensive it is to buy your own ship, you might be wondering whether it’s worth it. The short answer? It is. With your own ship, you’ll gain access to new islands and locations to explore, leading to new items and rewards that you’ll want to have—especially later in the game.
