Key Takeaway

To manually accept the License Agreement in Rocket League, follow these steps:

  • Open Settings from the Main Menu
  • Select Extras
  • Select EULA
  • Scroll down and select “Accept”

The License Agreement is something players need to accept when playing online games, such as Rocket League. You’ll be asked to accept it again if the terms change or if the game itself bugs out, which has happened occasionally.

    Manually Accepting the License Agreement

When you open Rocket League for the first time, or right after a terms change, you’ll receive a prompt asking you to read the EULA (the End User License Agreement) before accepting it. You can accept the License Agreement from here and you’re good to go.

However, if you accidentally clicked off of the prompt or the game somehow missed giving you this prompt, here’s the step-by-step process on how you can accept the license manually.

    • From the Main Menu, select Settings
    • Select the Extras bar—it’s located on the right end of the row
    • Under Extras, select EULA

Once here, scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll see the option to accept the License Agreement after “having read” all of it. You do read the entirety of License Agreements, right? Who doesn’t?

    Note
If you still aren’t able to play online after accepting the License Agreement, try closing the game and booting it back up. That will fix the problem.

Why Should You Accept the License Agreement

    Multiple cars from Rocket League.

License Agreements are legal contracts between a software supplier and a customer. In this case, it’s a legal agreement between Psyonix, the developers behind Rocket League, and you, the player of the game. It’s filled with technical and legal jargon that essentially states the rights and restrictions applied to the game.

It’s not necessary to read this nor should you be alarmed at the idea of agreeing to this contract. Play the game as is and this contract should not affect you at all. All gaming companies that have online servers are required to present EULAs to players. As such, all players are required to agree to them.

You can still play the game if you missed accepting the license, but you’ll be restricted to its offline components.

You won’t be able to play online if you don’t accept the License Agreement. Considering this is Rocket League‘s core gameplay loop, accepting the license is a must.

You can play offline and play against bots, which can still provide a fair bit of challenge, but nothing tops the experience of playing against real people and truly joining the Rocket League community. On top of that, you won’t be able to earn rewards and rank up unless you play online.

Take the time to accept Rocket League‘s License Agreement. It won’t take more than a minute. After that, you’re free to access the online components of the game and play to your heart’s content. Rank up, earn rewards, obtain the game’s best cars, and most importantly, have fun!
