With release day fast approaching, Asobo Studio has released an immersive and detailed gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem. The title was first revealed at E3 2021 and is scheduled to release on October 18, 2022.

A direct sequel to the 2019 title A Plague Tale: Innocence, Requiem will continue the story of Amicia and Hugo as they attempt to survive the black plague in 14th century France. The first game relied heavily on stealth, as any enemies catching Amicia and her little brother would kill the player character instantly. Requiem is changing this in a big way, as you can see by checking out the gameplay trailer below.

While stealth is still a useful tool in Amecia’s arsenal, she has become more capable when it comes to combat. Players will be able to harness a new selection of weapons, including a crossbow. Amicia’s sling seen in the first game will return with a few improvements. While Amicia loathes the idea of having to kill, it’s clear that she would do anything to protect her brother to survive herself. While Innocence saw the siblings evading soldiers, Requiem will introduce smugglers and mercenaries into the mix.

Enemy encounters will be more open in the sequel, meaning that players can approach different enemies in different ways. This could mean hiding in tall grass until you spot an opening, or simply running into the fray without fear.

While Hugo was more of a spectator in Innocence, his supernatural power will become more of a threat in A Plague Tale: Requiem. With the ability to control the rats carrying the plague, Hugo has the power to destroy entire cities. Each time he controls them, it takes its toll. While it may feel tempting to use his abilities to get out of a jam, knowing when and where to use them is a big piece of the puzzle.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released on October 18, 2022. It will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Those who preorder the game will receive the Protector Pack, which includes a crossbow skin, bonus crafting materials, and 13 exclusive cosmetics for Amicia.
