In Elden Ring, crafting is a way to get more creative with your unique playstyle. Using Consumables helps you to overcome different challenges without needing to respec. Make your journey as colorful as The Lands Between, Tarnished.

The Crafting Kit

Like the Spirit Calling Bell, the Crafting Kit is optional. It gives you the ability to craft Consumables anywhere, except when you’re engaged in combat. Below are the reasons it’s worth getting:
- Increase damage with Aromatic or Exalted Flesh.
- Inflict any damage without changing weapons often with Grease.
- Increase defense against Elemental Damage with Dried Liver.
- Remove any Status Effect buildup or ailment with Boluses.
- Increase resistance with Cured Meat.
To get the Crafting Kit, talk with Merchant Kale at the Church of Elleh in West Limgrave. He’ll recommend it for your survival. You’ll need 300 Runes to buy it from him.
How to Use the Crafting Kit

With the Crafting Kit, you’ll unlock the Item Crafting option. Here are the steps for how to craft a consumable:
- Open your menu:
- Steam: ESC key or Menu Button (three lines)
- PlayStation: Options
- Xbox: Options
- Select Item Crafting.
- Choose a Consumable.
- Gather the required Crafting Materials.
- Set the amount you want to craft.
- Select the OK button.
There are 96 craftable Consumables in Elden Ring. Although most of them require a Cookbook, the following only require you to complete the recipe:
How to Get the Crafting Kit Without Merchant Kale
If you killed Merchant Kale, you will still be able to get the Crafting Kit. Here are the steps to follow:
- Get Merchant Kale’s Bell Bearing.
- Defeat Margit, The Fell Omen, or reach Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Rest at any grace site.
- Go with Melina to the Roundtable Hold.
- Seek the Twin Maiden Husk at the end of the left hallway.
- Select “Offer a bell bearing.”
- Choose “Offer Kale’s Bell Bearing.”
- Select “Bell Bearing Shop 2.”
- Buy the Crafting Kit.
The Cracked Pot

There’s a total of 20 Cracked Pots in Elden Ring. They’re used to craft and store throwing pots that damage or debuff an enemy. You need a Cracked Pot for the following Consumables:
