Where to Find Gobermouch
The Gobermouch hunt can be started after you begin the Brotherhood main quest.
Gobermouch is located in Eistla, within the Kingdom of Waloed. From the Eistla obelisk, head to the westernmost corner of Eistla and you’ll find this Notorious Mark in an enclosed area. For more help, consult the image above for Gobermouch’s exact location.
Waloed is the final region you’ll visit in Final Fantasy 16, not including the place where the final boss resides. This means Gobermouch will not be accessible to you until you reach the game’s final act.
How to Beat Gobermouch
Gobermouch is a level 38 A-rank enemy. This small scoundrel is fast and furious! Don’t get cocky, or you’ll be in for a world of hurt.
- Goblin Punch: When Gobermouch does this attack, its fist glows blue and it swings its arm around before throwing the punch. The wind-up is very noticeable, which can make it easy for you to know when exactly to dodge.
- Little Swing: Gobermouch begins this attack by raising its club in the air and spinning it around. After a few seconds, Gobermouch then careens toward you, which will hurt should it make contact. Dodge or block before it reaches you.
For Gobermouch’s standard melee attacks, it is recommended that you equip the Ring of Timely Focus or the Ring of Timely Evasion so you can dodge its attacks more easily. Due to Gobermouch’s small stature and fast attack speed, it can be difficult to perform precise dodges and blocks. These two rings can help mitigate that.
As for abilities, make use of those that hit hard and trigger immediately, like Phoenix’s Rising Flames and Ramuh’s Pile Drive.
Gobermouch has no Will Gauge. Considering that, don’t bother using abilities that inflict high stagger damage like those of Shiva and Garuda.
The Gobermouch Hunt Rewards
You’ll receive the following after you defeat Gobermouch:
- 4,800 Experience
- 90 Ability Points
- 15,000 Gil
- 30 Renown
- 1 Primitive Battlehorn
While the Experience and other goods you’ll earn from this target are mostly unremarkable, the Primitive Battlehorn makes this hunt worthwhile. This is a necessary item for crafting the Gotterdammerung: the best weapon obtainable during FF16‘s first playthrough.
Aside from the Primitive Battlehorn, you’ll also need Orichalcum to craft the aforementioned weapon. Defeat the Ruin Reawakened and the Breaker of Worlds to earn some of this rare material.
