What is the Lunar Harp?
Following the events at the Temple of the Ancients, Cloud awakens in Gongaga desperate to find Aerith and Sephiroth. To get to their location, the City of the Ancients, you’ll need to pass through the Sleeping Forest.
The Lunar Harp is a key item used to pass through the Sleeping Forest. Using it causes the forest to “awaken.” Without the Harp, the first screen shown after entering the forest will repeat indefinitely and you’ll be unable to progress.
How to Get the Lunar Harp
The Harp is located in Bone Village. To get here, you’ll need to use the Tiny Bronco. From Gongaga, follow the coastline to the Northern Continent until you see signs of civilization and, as the name would suggest, lots of bones.

The Sleeping Forest is located beyond the northwest exit from the Bone Village, but there’s no reason to head there until you have the Lunar Harp in hand. To obtain it, you’ll need to do some digging.
Chat with the NPC near the entrance to the village and let him know that you’re ready to “Start diggin’.” You’ll then see the option to dig for the Lunar Harp. Selecting this will allow you to place up to five staff around the dig site, which will cost you an easy 100g. Do so, making sure to place one at the top on the left side of the tent.
Once the staff is set, a bomb will detonate, and the workers will use the data collected to point toward the treasure. Follow all of the staff member’s gazes. Where they intersect is where you’ll find the Lunar Harp. Once you stand on the proper spot, press the button prompt to dig.
Now you’ll be able to proceed through the Sleeping Forest. No further action is required–as long as the Lunar Harp is in your inventory, you’re good to go. Don’t forget to save your game before heading inside!
