The Estus Flask is your most trusted item in Dark Souls 3, with it being your saving grace during intense encounters and boss fights. To get more Estus Flasks, you’ll need Estus Shards. Here’s where you’ll find them.

How to Get More Estus Flasks in Dark Souls 3
You can increase the maximum number of Estus Flasks in your inventory by giving Estus Shards to the Blacksmith at Firelink Shrine. Take note that if you somehow missed the Ashen Estus Flask from the Cemetary of Ash, the Blacksmith won’t accept your Estus Shards, thus preventing you from getting more Estus Flasks.
At the beginning of the game, you’re only given 3 Estus Flasks. This goes up to four after you’ve obtained the Ashen Estus Flask. You can then increase the total number to 15 by collecting all 11 Estus Shards that are scattered throughout the game.
Here are the locations for every Estus Shards so you can get more Estus Flasks in Dark Souls 3.
Estus Shard in Firelink Shrine
On a beam at the uppermost part of Firelink Shrine. To get to this area, you can purchase the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaiden for 20,000 Souls. Use this key to open the Bell Tower behind the shrine.
Once on the bridge, there’s a gap between the ledges that will allow you to jump on top of the roof of the shrine. Jump down onto the roof and get to the side of the building to find an opening back into the shrine. You’ll find the Estus Shard inside.
Alternatively, you can skip purchasing the Tower Key altogether by jumping onto the side of the building with the help of the protruding tree right beside it. This area is just opposite of the Bell Tower entrance. This path is tricky and may take you a few attempts, but it will save you 20,000 Souls.
Estus Shard in High Wall of Lothric
This Estus Shard is sitting on top of an anvil in the room where you find the Cell Key.
Estus Shard in Undead Settlement
Found at the base of the burning tree that’s worshipped by various Undead, led by a Cathedral Evangelist. The Estus Shard is directly across the Cathedral Evangelist, the biggest and toughest enemy in that mob.
Estus Shard in Road of Sacrifices
Start from the Crucifixion Woods bonfire. From there, head towards the building on the left and go around it. Just after the two Lycanthropes is a small drop. Drop down to find the Estus Shard.
Estus Shard in Farron Keep
From the Farron Keep bonfire, continue forward until you reach the second patch of land. You should be able to spot a glowing item on the ground, underneath a fallen tower that’s guarded by a slug. That item is your next Estus Shard.
Estus Shard in Cathedral of the Deep
Start from the Cleansing Chapel bonfire. Head back outside and go to the pillar several Undead are praying at. You’ll find an Estus Shard there.
Estus Shard in Smouldering Lake
This Estus Shard is easy to find, for as long as you know where to look. It’s hidden behind an illusory wall in the same room as the bonfire in the Smouldering Lake. It’s at the opposite corner of where the bonfire is. Break the illusion, head inside, and take the first left. You will find the Estus Shard at the end of this corridor.
Estus Shard in Irithyll Dungeon
To get this Estus Shard, you must first get the Jailbreaker’s Key from one of the cells located beyond the bridge in the Irithyll Dungeon. This key opens the metal door at the end of the lower hallway outside the bonfire room.
From there, just keep continuing forward until you encounter a Mimic. This enemy drops the Estus Shard upon defeat.
Estus Shard in Anor Londo
The Estus Shard is inside a chest located in the massive room before Aldrich’s area. As soon as you enter the castle, look to your left and you should be able to spot the chest easily.
Estus Shard in Consumed King’s Garden
You can enter Consumed King’s Garden after you defeat the Dancer of the Boreal Valley. From the aforementioned boss’ room, climb the ladder and take the path on the left. Proceed forward until you reach an elevator. Ride the elevator down and jump off halfway through. Press forward and take the next path to the right. The Estus Shard is at the end of this path.
Estus Shard in Lothric Castle
At the roof of Lothric Castle, before taking the stairs to where the Winged Knights are. The Estus Shard is at the end of a balcony, very close to a railing.
