Money is an essential part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as you’ll need it for Potions, Poké Balls, picnic ingredients, TMs, and more. You’ll earn money naturally by progressing through the game, but some methods of farming money will make you richer faster.

Farming Star Pieces
One of the best ways to make money quickly is to farm Star Pieces in Asado Desert. Simply follow these steps, and you’ll be rich in no time:
- Disable auto-save
- Have only two Pokémon in your party that are unable to breed with each other
- Make sure you have butter, peanut butter, bananas, and toothpicks
- Head into Asado Desert
- Save before picking up each shiny object on the ground
- When you find a Star Piece, immediately close your game and reload it
- Set up your picnic table so that the picnic basket and end of the table are covering the shiny object on the ground
- Make a great peanut butter sandwich to get Egg Power Level 2
- Stand next to the basket and check every 5-10 minutes for a bunch of Star Pieces
- Make more great peanut butter sandwiches whenever the buff wears off
Farming and Selling Rare Items
Farming and selling rare items is a great way to make a lot of money, though it requires some work to do it efficiently. The best way to get rare items is by completing higher-level Tera Raids. Though it takes work to get your Pokémon to a point where they can continuously perform as needed in high-level Tera Raids, it’s worth it in the end when you’re able to get rare items as rewards consistently. For example, Big Nuggets sell for $20,000 each. Luckily, it isn’t too difficult to farm EXP and raise IVs to get your Pokémon ready for these difficult battles.
Defeating Trainers with Meowth or Persian and Amulet Coin
This route for farming money is more of a combination of methods. Locating and defeating trainers is a great way to raise money in general, but if you’re able to do this while using a Meowth or Persian that has the move Pay Day, it’s even more effective. While in battle, have Meowth or Persian use the move Pay Day at least once, and you’ll get some extra money. It’s not a ton extra, but used repeatedly, it will stack up.
Add the Amulet Coin into the mix, and you’ll be set to rake in even more money. The Amulet Coin, when held by a Pokémon, doubles the amount of money you get after battles. Give the Amulet Coin to Meowth, and you’re set up to maximize your profit.
Where to Find Meowth or Persian
If you want to take advantage of this method, but you don’t yet have a Meowth or Persian, you’ll want to head to a location in which the cities and towns are more active at night. You can find Meowth in the following areas, most often after sunset:
- Cascarrafa
- Medali
- West Province (Area Two)
- West Province (Area Three)
- Zapapico
- East Province (Area Three)
- Levincia
Persian, on the other hand, can only be found in West Province (Area Three). Persian will also be most commonly found after sunset.
How to Get the Amulet Coin
You can get the Amulet Coin from one of the Pokémon League representatives. These are the men in suits that linger outside of the Pokémon Centers scattered across Paldea. The one you’ll want to talk to is the one outside of the Pokémon Center in Medali. All you must do is defeat five Trainers in this area, and then this representative will give you the Amulet Coin.
Using the Amulet Coin in the Academy Ace Tournament
The last effective method for farming money in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is by using the Amulet Coin in the Academy Ace Tournament. Like with the Meowth method, you can give the Amulet Coin to any Pokémon on your team that you plan to use consistently through the Academy Ace Tournament. By going through the Tournament this way, you can earn $120,000 per run.
How to Participate in the Academy Ace Tournament
To participate in the Academy Ace Tournament, you will need to have defeated all eight Gym Leaders and the Elite Four. The Victory Road path must be finished. Additionally, you’ll also need to rematch and beat all eight Gym Leaders a second time. Once this is completed, you are ready to try out the Academy Ace Tournament.
Simply go up to the front desk at the Academy, and they will let you begin the Tournament.
