Sadly, Stardew Valley still doesn’t offer cross-platform support in 2023. Those wanting to enjoy a cozy time building the ultimate farm and exploring Pelican Town with friends will need to be on the same platform, with one slight exception.

Current Cross-Platform Support
As a refresher, cross-platform titles allow players to enjoy games together even if they are each playing the game on different consoles.
Simply put, Stardew Valley does not offer cross-platform support. Players wanting to enjoy the game’s multiplayer will need to buy and play the game on the same platform as their friends.
Stardew Valley is available to play on Windows, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, as well as Android and iOS devices. You will not be able to enjoy the game’s multiplayer if you’re playing on two different platforms.
One tiny exception exists–PC and Mac players can enjoy the game together.
The Future of Cross-Platform Support in Stardew Valley
Players have been desperate for the addition of cross-platform support since the game introduced four-person multiplayer in August 2018. Unfortunately, making this a reality has proven to be a major hurdle to Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, the developer of the game.
Barone created every piece of Stardew Valley over a four-year period. Making a game cross-platform is technologically complex and fairly difficult, hence why this hasn’t yet come to fruition.
In a Tweet posted in September 2018, Barone mentioned this being a possibility somewhere down the line. “Apparently, the technical barriers are very high,” he said. “It’s still something I really want to add and I promise to look into it more closely.”
Over four years later, cross-platform support is still not available. While it seems unlikely that this feature will be added any time soon, Barone himself has expressed interest in adding crossplay at some point in the future. Fans will just need to stay hopeful.
