The Berserkers are optional bosses you can fight in God of War Ragnarök. They’re also some of the toughest in the game. However, take the time to defeat all of them, and you will receive awesome and worthwhile rewards.

Fraekni the Zealous
Fraekni the Zealous is most likely the first Berserker you’ll encounter after receiving the Inert Hilt of Skofnung during The Word of Fate main quest. You’ll find his Berserker Gravestone east of the Lake of Nine Mystic Gateway.
Fraekni is a great introduction to the Berserker enemy type. As such, he’s also the easiest of the bunch. You can fight any Berserker in the game at any level, depending on your patience and skill level. However, to be most efficient, take note of the power levels of the Berserkers and what level you should be at prior to fighting them.
For Fraekni the Zealous, it’s recommended that you are at least level 4 to 5 before fighting him. After defeating this enemy, you’ll receive the following items:
- Berserker Waist Guard
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Hardrefill the Callous
You’ll find Hardrefill the Callous on the beach at the base of the Myrkr Tunnels in Svartalfheim. You’ll find this Gravestone when you descend the mountain via a train with Freya at the end of the Forging Destiny main quest.
It’s recommended that you are level 4 to 5 before fighting this berserker. Once defeated, he’ll drop the following:
- Asgard’s Fortitude Enchantment
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Beigadr the Feared
The Berserker Gravestone for Beigadr the Feared is on the Alberich Island in Svartalfheim. You’ll see it on the beach right away after docking the boat.
You should be level 5 to 6 before fighting this enemy. You’ll receive the following items after defeating him:
- Asgard’s Might Enchantment
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Hvitsekr the Bold
You’ll find Hvitsekr the Bold’s Berserker Gravestone in the Pilgrim’s Landing in Vanaheim. You’ll find this island around the River Delta.
You should be level 5 to 6 when you fight this berserker. When you defeat him, you’ll receive the following:
- Pommels of the Nine Realms Blades of Chaos Attachment
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Hjalti the Stolid
Hjalti the Stolid is in the southern section of The Forbidden Sands in Alfheim. Before fighting this boss, aim to be at least level 6 to 7. You’ll receive the following items after defeating this berserker:
- Grip of the Nine Realms Leviathan Axe Attachment
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Haklangr the Bearded
Haklangr the Bearded is in The Sinkholes in Vanaheim. It’s in the same area as The Sinkholes Mystic Gateway. To get here, you’ll first need to bring the waters back to The Crater by completing the Return of the River favor. This will allow you to get to this area by boat.
It’s recommended that you are at least level 7 to 8 before fighting Haklangr the Bearded. After defeating him, he’ll drop the following items:
- Chaos Flame
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Bodvar the Fierce and Starolfr the Troublesome
When you activate this Berserker Gravestone, you’ll be fighting two Berserkers at once. You’ll find the Gravestone for Bodvar the Fierce and Starolfr the Troublesome in the Jarnsmida Pitmines in Svartalfheim.
To return to the Jarnsmida Pitmines later in the game, travel to the Aurvangar Wetlands Mystic Gateway. There’s a ferry here that can take you to the Sverd Sands. From here, take the elevator back to the Applecore, keep heading north, and you’ll eventually make your way back to the Jarnsmida Pitmines.
As soon as you arrive in the Pitmines, you’ll see the Gravestone in the middle of the first field you reach.
Be sure you’re at level 7 to 8 before fighting the pair. Once defeated, they’ll drop the following:
- Hind of the Nine Realms Draupnir Spear Attachment
- Gale Flame
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Svipdagr the Cold and the Sisters of Illska
This encounter is undeniably one of the toughest in the entire game. When you interact with this Berserker Gravestone, you’ll be fighting a total of three Berserkers at once. Although, the Sisters of Illska share one health bar.
You’ll find their gravestone on the eastern section of The Barrens in Alfheim.
It’s highly recommended that you are at least level 7 to 8 before you tackle these three Berserkers. When you finally put them down, you’ll receive:
- Berserker Cuirass
- Frozen Flame
- Asgard’s Security Enchantment
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
Skjothendi the Unerring
Skjothendi the Unerring is in the Mist Fields in Niflheim. You’ll only be able to access this area when every Mystic Gateway in the game unlocks after you complete the main story.
You should be at least level 7 to 8 before tackling this boss. When defeated, he’ll drop the following:
- Berserker Gauntlets
- Tempered Remnants
- Bonded Leather
- Shattered Runes
King Hrolf Kraki
King Hrolf Kraki is the leader of the Berserkers. You’ll only be able to fight him after defeating the other 12 Berserkers. Once you’ve met this requirement, return to where you found the Inert Hilt of Skofnung in Midgard. Interact with the Berserker Gravestone here and be prepared to fight one of the hardest bosses in God of War Ragnarök.
It’s recommended that you are at least level 8 to 9 before fighting King Hrolf Kraki. You’ll want Kratos to be as powerful as he can prior to this encounter. When you finally defeat King Hrolf, you’ll receive the following items:
- Hilt of Skofnung Relic
- Helheim’s Virtue Enchantment
- Bonded Leather
- 250,000 Hacksilver
