Outside of your close circle of friends and fellow Phantom Thieves in Persona 5 Royal, you have the chance to spend time with other unique characters. Munehisa Iwai might seem threatening at first glance, but this shady weapons dealer is hiding a heart of gold.

How to Begin the Hanged Man Confidant
The owner of Untouchable Airsofts in Shibuya, Munehisa Iwai sells illegal weapons and armor to the Phantom Thieves in exchange for the protagonist’s help with certain shady activities. A former yakuza, he’s desperate to keep his past a secret from his adoptive son, Kaoru.
Upon visiting Untouchable on May 6, Iwai will give you a paper bag with a very realistic model gun. However, if you want to ask about it and start his Confidant, you’ll need Dauntless Guts (Level 4).
NoteHanged Man Confidant Skills
Spending time at Untouchable and getting to know Iwai will eventually lead to stronger weapons. As you level up his Confidant, you’ll unlock the ability to customize your guns and install upgrades, including those that can inflict ailments on enemies.

Once the Hanged Man Confidant is maxed out, you’ll be able to fuse Attis, one of only three Personas to learn Thermopylae, which raises the party’s Attack, Defense, and Agility for three turns. Attis also learns Drain Curse, a passive skill that blocks all damage from Curse skills and instead has it restore the user’s HP.
Provided that you’ve reached max rank, Iwai will give you a Gecko Pin on March 19. This unlocks all customizations once you start Iwai’s Confidant in New Game Plus.

Choosing specific dialogue options will increase your rank more quickly during your time with Iwai. If you say the wrong thing, it’s always possible to give a gift or two to make up for any lost points.
By ranking up Iwai’s Confidant, you’ll also progressively boost your Proficiency stat.
