Beyond your close circle of friends in Persona 5 Royal, you’ll occasionally have the chance to get to know some other curious characters. Toranosuke Yoshida might seem like another down-on-his-luck politician, but spending time with him will give a major boost to your Shadow negotiations–and his campaign.

How to Begin the Sun Confidant

Outside of Shibuya Station, you’ll sometimes see Yoshida giving speeches and, more often than not, getting heckled by the crowd. His bad reputation proceeds him, but his dreams of changing Japan for the better are genuine. The protagonist will eventually have the chance to help with his campaign.

On May 6, you’ll finally be allowed to leave Leblanc at night. By visiting the Shibuya Station Square, you can listen to Yoshida’s speech, but starting the Star Confidant takes a few extra steps.

Ensure that you have Decent Proficiency (Level 2). Grab one of the job pamphlets in the Underground Walkway and apply to work at Ore no Beko, a beef bowl shop on Shibuya Central Street. After working there twice at night, Yoshida will notice your hard work.

After this, listen to one of Yoshida’s nightly speeches. On your next interaction with the politician, the Sun Confidant will begin.

    Sun Confidant Skills

Spending enough time with Yoshida will reward you with bonus abilities that will help negotiate with Shadows in the Metaverse more effectively.

Check out the full list of abilities and necessary ranks below.

Maxing out the Sun Confidant will allow you to fuse Asura, the only source of Atomic Flare. This skill deals severe Nuclear damage to one enemy. In Royal, Asura also has the Atomic Hellscape Trait, reducing the cost of Nuclear Skills by 75%. Itemizing him will reward you with the Unparalleled Vajra, one of Makoto’s most powerful weapons.

Provided that you’ve reached max rank, Yoshida will gift you a Fountain Pen on March 19, unlocking all speech abilities once you begin his Confidant in New Game Plus.

    Hangout Conversations

Each time you spend time with Yoshida, the Sun Confidant will increase in rank. However, certain dialogue options still give more points than others. Follow our guide if you don’t want to hurt Yoshida’s feelings!

Yoshida’s Confidant is one of the easiest and quickest to finish, and it’s not necessary to have a Sun Persona in your possession when spending time with him to get the most points.

    Warning
The deadline to max out Yoshida’s Confidant is November 17.

By ranking up Yoshida’s Confidant, you’ll also progressively boost your Charm stat.
