Fostering friendships and being social in Persona 5 Royal can lead to big boosts on the battlefield. Computer genius and hermit Futaba Sakura supports the Phantom Thieves in her own unique way, and helping her find her confidence will also trigger many of her more powerful abilities.

How to Begin the Hermit Confidant
Rarely leaving her room, Futaba Sakura is the daughter of Sojiro Sakura, the manager of Cafe Leblanc and your caretaker in the game. Suffering from social anxiety following the death of her mother, Futaba is the only character in Persona 5 Royal who asks the Phantom Thieves to steal her own heart in the hopes that it would free her from her self-hatred.
You’ll begin Futaba’s Confidant automatically on August 31. During the day, she can be found outside of Cafe Leblanc.
The deadline to max out the Hermit Confidant in Persona 5 Royal depends on whether or not you max out your relationship with Maruki. If you do, you unlock the third semester and have until February 2. If you don’t, the deadline is the same as the vanilla game–December 22.

Once the Hermit Confidant is maxed out, Futaba’s original Persona, Necronomicon, will transform into Prometheus. If you unlock the third semester, her Persona will evolve again, this time into Al Azif.
Maxing out Futaba’s Confidant will also allow you to fuse Ongyo-Ki, one of only two Personas able to learn Agneyastra and Arms Master.
Completing Futaba’s Confidant will also reward you with a Promise List. After receiving this gift on March 19, Futaba will be able to use Treasure Reboot and Mementos Scan automatically once her Confidant is established in New Game Plus.

As you chat with Futaba, certain dialogue choices will result in more points than others. Picking the right responses can help boost your Rank more quickly. Giving gifts can also help to make up for any points lost by accidentally choosing the wrong response.
