Dark Souls: Where to Find All Miracles

Miracles are some of the best resources you can employ to finally beat Dark Souls—despite the stigma of Faith builds being less effective than other types of builds. There are a lot of Miracles that you can acquire (23 in total), making this spell family versatile and viable.

About Miracles in Dark Souls

Miracles are magic spells for Faith builds. They’re mainly defensive and restorative spells, which means these spells either restore your HP or temporarily increase your defense stats and damage reduction. These spells can serve you particularly well if you keep seeing your HP bar drop to zero as you traverse the game’s levels.

Heal

• Faith stat requirement – 12
• Number of uses – 5
• Attunement slots – 1 

Restores a small amount of HP. The HP restored is dependent on your Faith stat.

You can purchase this spell from Petrus of Thorolund for 4,000 Souls, Patches for 5,000 Souls, or Reah of Thorolund for 1,000 Souls.

Petrus of Thorolund is an NPC you meet in Firelink Shrine, in the ruins outside the elevator that leads to the Undead Parish. Patches is an NPC you meet in the Tomb of the Giants. You can begin buying items from Patches once he moves to Firelink Shrine. Reah’s initial location is also in Firelink Shrine, near where you encounter Petrus. However, she later moves to the Tomb of the Giants, in the pit that Patches pushes you into. Rescue her here and she’ll move to the Undead Parish where you can then buy items from her.

The Cleric starting class has Heal as one of its starting spells.

Great Heal Excerpt

• Faith stat requirement – 14
• Number of uses – 1
• Attunement slots – 1 

The Great Heal Excerpt heals a larger amount of HP compared to the Heal spell. The HP it restores is equal to Great Heal. However, it only has one cast, rendering its use fairly limited. This is a great option for players who have a low Faith stat but still need an extra healing option.

You can purchase the spell from Petrus of Thorolound for 10,000 Souls, Patches for 10,000, or Reah for 2,000 Souls.

Great Heal

• Faith stat requirement – 24
• Number of uses – 3
• Attunement slots – 1 

Restores a significant amount of HP to the caster. The amount of HP restored is dependent on the caster’s Faith stat. Unlike Great Heal Excerpt, this spell can be cast three times, but it has a higher Faith stat requirement.

You can purchase this from Reah of Thorolund for 10,000 Souls.

Soothing Sunlight

• Faith stat requirement – 48
• Number of uses – 3
• Attunement slots – 2 

The Soothing Sunlight heals a large amount of HP to you and cooperative allies, making it useful for co-op plays. You must be a member of the Princess’s Guard covenant to use this spell.

This Miracle is dropped by one of the Pisacas in the prison tower in the Duke’s Archives. You get transported to this prison after facing an invincible Seath the Scaleless. You’ll find a group of Pisacas on the ground floor of the prison.

Replenishment

• Faith stat requirement – 16
• Number of uses – 2
• Attunement slots – 1 

This spell gradually restores your HP over time. Once cast, it restores 10 HP per second and lasts for 60 seconds, restoring a total of 600 HP overall.

Reah of Thorolund gives you this spell as a reward after you rescue her from her companions which have gone hollow in the Tomb of the Giants. You’ll find Reah and her hollowed companions in the same pit Patches pushes you down.

Bountiful Sunlight

• Faith stat requirement – 36
• Number of uses – 2
• Attunement slots – 2 

This spell gradually restores your HP over time, as well as that of your cooperative allies. You must be a member of the Princess’s Guard to use this spell.

This is dropped by one of the Pisacas in the prison tower in the Duke’s Archives. This Pisaca is in the same group as the one that drops the Soothing Sunlight spell.

Force

• Faith stat requirement – 12
• Number of uses – 21
• Attunement slots – 1

This defensive spell knocks back nearby enemies but it doesn’t deal any damage. It’s useful for launching enemies off ledges or knocking them to the ground. Force can also deflect offensive sorceries when timed right.

You can purchase this spell from Petrus of Thorolund for 4,000 Souls or Reah of Thorolund for 1,000 Souls.

Wrath of the Gods

• Faith stat requirement – 28
• Number of uses – 3
• Attunement slots – 1 

The Wrath of the Gods spell has somewhat of the same effect as the Force, although this one actually deals damage. When cast, it inflicts AOE damage to those around you.

You can purchase this from Petrus of Thorolund for 4,000 Souls or Reah of Thorolund for 1,000 Souls.

Emit Force

• Faith stat requirement – 18
• Number of uses – 6
• Attunement slots – 1 

The Emit Force spell allows you to shoot a large ball of energy that explodes on the target, damaging them and nearby enemies.

This Miracle is given to you as a gift by Siegmeyer of Catarina when you meet up with him in Firelink Shrine. Once he asks you if it was you who opened the gates to Sen’s Fortress, say “yes” and he’ll give you the Emit Force.

Magic Barrier

• Faith stat requirement – 14
• Number of uses – 4
• Attunement slots – 1 

This spell increases your magic defense by about 70% and lasts for about 40 seconds. Magic Barrier is a self-buff spell. You will be restricted from casting other self-buffs as long as this one is active.

You can buy this from Reah of Thorolund for 6,000 Souls.

Great Magic Barrier

• Faith stat requirement – 24
• Number of uses – 2
• Attunement slots –  1

This has the same effect as the Magic Barrier spell, but it offers more magic defense. It also lasts 40 seconds.

You’ll find this in a hollow branch in Ash Lake. This is the tree in the area that is filled with Basilisks. You can access the branch from outside the tree.

Homeward

• Faith stat requirement – 18
• Number of uses – 1
• Attunement slots – 1 

This spell has the same function as the Homeward Bone. When cast, it sends you back to your previously rested bonfire.

You can purchase it from Petrus of Thorolund for 8,000 Souls or Reah of Thorolund for 1,000 Souls.

Seek Guidance

When you use this spell, you see more messages on the ground left by other players. In some areas, you’ll also be able to see new messages and hints left behind by the developers of the game.

You can purchase this spell from Petrus of Thorolund for 2,000 Souls or Reah of Thorolund for 500 Souls.

Karmic Justice

• Faith stat requirement – 20
• Number of uses – 4
• Attunement slots – 1

The Karmic Justice is a self-buff spell. Once cast, a magic aura covers the player for about a minute. If the player continuously receives physical damage while the buff is in effect, it will eventually cause an explosion, causing massive damage to nearby enemies.

You can purchase this spell from Oswald of Carim for 40,000 Souls. You’ll find him in the bell tower after defeating the Bell of Gargoyles in the Undead Parish.

Vow of Silence

• Faith stat requirement – 30
• Number of uses – 2
• Attunement slots – 2 

The Vow of Silence casts an area of effect warding spell that disables everyone in an area from casting spells. However, this effect affects the caster as well. This is great for melee PvP users who constantly have to deal with Magic builds.

You can find above the church in the Painted World of Ariamis. This is the church you enter using the Annex Key.

Tranquil Walk of Peace

• Faith stat requirement – 18
• Number of uses – 5
• Attunement slots –  1

This spell slows down the movement speed of enemies for 10 seconds. This also prevents players from rolling while they’re within the spell’s area of effect.

You can find this spell in the Catacombs, in the cave past the bridge near the second bonfire. Once making it into this cave, pass through the area behind the breakable wall. Once down, proceed to the hallway where you encounter a giant skeleton and make the first right. Continue forward until you can find a ladder on the right.

Take this ladder up and continue heading forward. You’ll find this spell on a corpse on the ground.

Lightning Spear

• Faith stat requirement – 20
• Number of uses – 10
• Attunement slots –  1

The Lightning Spear spell is one of the few offensive Miracle spells. With this, you’ll be able to throw lightning bolts at enemies. This spell inflicts lightning damage. When thrown into bodies of water such as puddles and lakes, you can inflict a lightning AOE effect.

You receive this spell as a gift after joining the Warrior of Sunlight covenant.

Great Lightning Spear

• Faith stat requirement – 30
• Number of uses – 10
• Attunement slots – 1

This spell is a more powerful variation of the Lightning Spear spell. It has the same effects but deals more damage.

To obtain it, reach rank 1 in the Warrior of Sunlight covenant. You rank up in this covenant by offering Sunlight Medals.

Sunlight Spear

• Faith stat requirement – 50
• Number of uses – 5
• Attunement slots – 2  

This is the most powerful variation of the Lightning Spear spell. It has the same effects as its predecessor. However, to keep using the spell, you must be a member of the Warrior of Sunlight covenant.

To receive this spell, you must offer the Soul of Gwyn, Lord of Cinder to the covenant.

Sunlight Blade

• Faith stat requirement – 30
• Number of uses – 1
• Attunement slots – 1 

The Sunlight Blade spell imbues your right-hand weapon with lightning.

You receive this spell after defeating Dark Sun Gwyndolin. Dark Sun Gwyndolin is in a hidden area in Anor Londo called the Darkmoon Tomb. When you make it to this location, you must equip the Darkmoon Seance Ring to gain access to his boss room.

Darkmoon Blade

• Faith stat requirement – 30
• Number of uses – 1
• Attunement slots – 1 

The Darkmoon Blade imbues your right-hand weapon with the Darkmoon effect. The damage for this buff is dependent on your rank within the Blade of the Dark Moon covenant. This is one of the few Miracles in Dark Souls you can only use if you’re part of the Blade of the Dark Moon covenant.

To obtain this spell, you must reach rank 1 within the Blade of the Dark Moon covenant. You can rank up within the covenant by offering up Souvenirs of Reprisal.

Gravelord Sword Dance

• Faith stat requirement – 0
• Number of uses – 40
• Attunement slots –  1

The Gravelord Sword Dance is an offensive Miracle spell. When cast, the spell causes several swords to burst from the ground, impaling nearby enemies. This spell is similar to one of Gravelord Nito’s attacks.

You receive this spell after joining the Gravelord Servant covenant.

Gravelord Greatsword Dance

• Faith stat requirement – 0
• Number of uses – 40
• Attunement slots –  1

This spell is similar to the previous one, except that it is more powerful and has a wider area of effect. To receive it, you must rank up within the covenant by offering Eyes of Death.
