Hemorrhage (also known as blood loss) and frostbite are status effects. These can be inflicted upon you by other enemies in PvP, or by various enemies and bosses in the game.

When your Robustness stat is high, the hemorrhage and frostbite status effects affect you less. It will take more attacks to fully fill the status effect bars, thus making you less susceptible to the status effects themselves.
