Key Takeaway

Although the Mercy of Wind ability that lets you break through blue chains is found in the Crown of Towers, you can’t get it the first time you enter this region. You need first to make it to the Chapel of Five Doves (within the Elevated Temples) and progress the main quest before you can access the section of the Crown of Towers where the Mercy of Wind ability is located.

It’s not uncommon for Metroidvania games to force you to retrace your steps. Gaining the ability to break through blue chains in Blasphemous 2 is very much like this. You need to get the ability to air dash—called the Mercy of the Wind—from within the Crown of Towers.

What You Need to Do Before You Can Get the Mercy of the Wind Ability

Although Mercy of the Wind is in a lower area of the Crown of Towers, you can’t reach it the first time you enter this region. You must first get to the Chapel of Five Doves to open up a new section in the Crown of Towers. Only then will there be a path that leads you to the Mercy of Wind ability.

This can only be done in the second half of the game. As such, defeat Great Preceptor Radamés, Orospina, Lady Embroider, and Lesmes & Infanta first.

Afterward, make your way up to the Elevated Temples. From there, work your way into the Chapel of Five Doves at the center. Here, speak with the Anonymous Pilgrim to get the Key of the Pilgrim.

When you do, you’ll enter a dark room and must speak to another NPC before a cutscene plays. This cutscene reveals a ghostly building appearing within the Crown of Towers.

Once the beautiful animation ends, it’s time to make your way to the Crown of Towers. This new spectral structure provides you with some new paths. One of these leads to a new area: the Basilica of Absent Faces.

Here’s where the above-pictured ghost bridge is on the map (see the image below).

However, before you can fully ascend this basilica, you’ll need to pass through its lower region to a previously unreachable spot of the Crown of Tower. This is so you can pick up the Mercy of Wind ability—which is needed to get to the top of the Basilica of Absent Faces.

How to Get the Mercy of Wind Ability

Pass through the lower section of the Basilica of Absent Faces to re-enter the Crown of Towers via another ghostly bridge. Next, use Ruego Al Alba’s dropdown attack to cut through the brown flesh walls blocking your progress downwards.

Following this, take a left turn into a new room and you’ll see a mirror statue. Use Sarmiento & Centella to get through the metal grate in front of the mirror statue. Then, to the left, you’ll find an urn that’ll give you the Mercy of the Wind ability.

Here’s the route we took to get to the Mercy of the Wind’s pickup location (see the red arrow on the map image below).

How to Use the Mercy of the Wind Ability to Break Through Blue Chains

The Mercy of the Wind is an air-dash ability. You use it by pressing the dodge button while you’re in the air. To break through blue chains in Blasphemous 2, use Mercy of the Wind while facing these barriers. You need to make contact with the blue chains to break through them.

There are some blue chains near the Mercy of the Wind’s pickup location—practice your new ability on them to get a feel for your brand-new air dash skill.

This ability can be used while jumping, double-jumping, and falling. Not only will this new ability help you get through previously impenetrable obstacles, but it’ll also help you get around the map a lot faster.

The parkour feats never seem to end in Blasphemous 2. First, you gain the ability to climb walls, then double-jump, and now you can soar through the air like an eagle! Once you can glide through the sky, you’ll be able to reach even more quest items than before—such as those that’ll let you improve your Bile Flasks and more.
