Maya Sattar

Maya Sattar is working full-time as an SEO Content Writer for Rivalry, creating enjoyable esports content for people of all ages and walks of life. Studying English at Solent University taught her the ins and outs of creative writing and how to masterfully craft engaging content. After three years of COVID disrupting her studies, she eventually emerged from her degree unscathed, with a First-Class Honours degree in 2022. While studying for her degree, Maya also tried her hand at socializing in a retail job and swiftly learned this was not suitable for her introverted self.

After initially wanting to be a motorsports journalist, Maya turned her attention to becoming a gaming writer. After dozens of failed interviews and applications, she persevered through grit and determination, eventually landing her dream job. She has combined her love of writing and passion for games into hundreds of articles, some of which have racked up over 30,000 views on Game Rant!

Growing up in the South of England, Maya has always been a gamer at heart, with a particular fondness for ones with intricate storytelling. However, her earlier memory involves playing Tomb Raider on PlayStation 1 and being terrified of the T-Rex in the Lost Valley. Some of Maya’s favorite games include the BioShock series, League of Legends, Stardew Valley, and Terraria.

Maya is extremely interested in the impacts gaming can have on children, having written an essay titled Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft: A sexualised object or role model for female empowerment? This is her most treasured work to date, and she hopes to publish it one day.

Outside of writing or gaming, Maya can be found cuddling her cat with her nose deep in a romance book. Her favorite food is controversially Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple or a cheeky Sunday roast dinner with plenty of broccoli.
