If you want to cook food as quickly as possible in Minecraft, your best option is to use a Smoker. You can make one with basic resources and items, so it’s pretty easy to craft one.

What You Need to Make a Smoker

To make a Smoker, you only need 1 Furnace and 4 Wood Logs of any kind. Firstly, on a Crafting Table, place a Furnace on the centermost slot. Then, put the Wood Logs on every remaining slot except the corners. This crafting recipe will give you 1 Smoker.

It is worth mentioning that you can use any kind of Wood Log to craft a Smoker—even different kinds at once. For example, you can potentially make a Smoker with Oak Wood Logs as well as Spruce Wood Logs.

Where to Get Wood Logs and a Furnace

You can easily mine Wood Logs from trees. Punching the blocks will allow you to harvest them, however, using an Axe is much quicker. The higher level your Axe is in terms of material, the quicker it will chop through trees; Diamond Axes chop faster than Wooden Axes.

It will also be easy for you to make a Furnace using 8 Cobblestone. To do so, simply make a ring of Cobblestone on a Crafting Table by filling it while leaving the centermost slot empty.

    Where to Find Naturally-generated Smokers

It’s possible for you to find Smokers in Butcher Houses of Villages. If you want, you can mine them to take for yourself, as the Villagers won’t mind. Though, you can only collect a Smoker with a Pickaxe. If you break one with your hand or any other tool, it will not drop anything.

It should also be mentioned that a Smoker is the job site block for a Butcher Villager. This means that if you place a Smoker near an unemployed Villager, you can turn them into a Butcher Villager.

Why Use a Smoker Instead of a Furnace

Smokers cook food items twice as fast as a Furnace, making them much more efficient. If you hate waiting around for your food to cook, be sure to make and use a Smoker. You can use it in the same way as a regular Furnace: place it and then insert raw food items and fuel.

However, you should also know that Smokers use fuel twice as fast as a Furnace, meaning that the fuel cost for cooking is the same. As such, if you have a lot of food to cook, make sure you also have a lot of fuel. Any wooden item can be used as fuel, although Coal and Charcoal will last much longer.
